I'm just curious. I saw a posting where everyone rated their Cl-S. Many did not give the CL-S a 9 or better..the reason being..it isn't a BMW.

What gives? I am in the market for a new car. I have been looking at the 330i, test drove it and it was great! The I see the numbers for the CL-S and I am stunned. The Acura pounds on the Bimmer...and is $10,000 less!

The BMW people's only response is..Jap cars suck, Euro cars rule. But I think I need more solid reasoning to justify $10k more.

Both CLS and 330 are very nice car,but 30K for a luxury coupe is a decent decision for most people here...

here are Pros and Cons compare with 330..IMO

Pros:save you "$10,000" ....LoL
the best Navi system in the market
you won't see the same car as often as 3-series bmw

Cons:not so good quality in fit and finish (some people get annoying rattles)
really cheap paint quality

If you have more than 40k to spend,I would say go for an AUDI S4,then you are the Man

If ya like to modify your car's the CL-S would be fun. Don't get me wrong the car is great stock, but I look for cars that I can play with. The availability of after market stuff for Acura and Honda cars is incredible.
So when I compared the 330 to the CL-S, I looked at the performance, what mods were available, size of the cars 330(compact) CL-S(midsize), and of course price (10k variance).
If you don't like to work on cars or have them modified and like compact cars with a manual trans and rear wheel drive the 330 is for you.
If you want a midsize car that can be modified to over 300+hp with a header and cai, prefer the option of auto and sport shifter mode trans in a front wheel configuration. Then the Acura is for you.

Acura did OK with the CLS, but when compared back to back to any equivalent model year BMW it pales.

 

Yeh, I put that in my rating report. You have to ask why? Okay - styling, handling, craftsmanship.... Need I say more?

BTW, I'm not talking about a low-end Bimmer either, if I were I'd have bought one instead of the CL-S. The CL-S is a great car in the $30,000 class. My next car will be a 540i, which is in a different class.

My sentiments exactly. I owned a BMW 540 before the CL-S. Maintenance is a totally different story for the Acura. Next car is hopefully an M5 but the CL is the right car for me at this time. It fits my needs perfectly.

I don't agree. The Honda's engine is MORE reliable then both the BMW AND the Audi S4. Yes, the Euro cars have a nicer fit & Finish, BUT, will they last after $45k miles???

I DON'T THINK SO!

 

There are only 2 things I give Acura over BMW -- bang for the buck and engine performance/reliability.

What about the maintance. That is a bunch of crap for their up keep. The Acura is so much more for the money and they are a lot cheaper to fix up also when compared to a BMW.

Also, BMW's do not last in the long run. To many tech. problems and others on the list. The only german car that can give the Acura a run for its money on rel. is the Mercedes Benz. These cars will run forever and not stop running.

Also, BMW does not have as good as resale value as the Acura!

FOr the 10 grand more that hte bmw 330 is, u can get a cl-s and upgrade it with this new package that is poppin up around this forum that will push the cl-s to over 315 hp and that my friend will blow the doors off the 330 and maybe even givce the m3 a run for its money, but even if it doesnt, i still rather have the cl-s casue its soo much more comfy then the 3 series bmw.if i was goin to get a bmw , it wouldnt be the lowlevel 3 series, id at least get the ass kickin 540 sport.

Really? That's funny. In New York, I see a ton of older Bimmers on the road. A lot more than I see older Acuras or Hondas. I'm not saying Honda is bad, but BMW is known as a long lasting car.

I am trying to decide wether to buy a M3 or a CLS and I can tell you from the research I have done, that BMW does cost more for matinence but lasts just as long as acura, and also the resale value is WAY higher, Here is a good exsample, My 94 Legend Coupe LS with everything sold for 45 something new, now its worth maybe 15, now a 1995 BMW that sold for 45 like lets say a 95 M3 will sell for 25-30.....
