Why do u choose CLS ..and stay with it?
the reason i bought my cls is because
it is powerful and newer designed back 2000..
and the other reason is because CL is the inital of my wife's name
although there is a Benz CL too..but too expensive to own one
i was only 24 when i bought my cls..i mean paid in full cash at the dealership..

I agree it was definately the best deal at tht time, comparing what this car offered to others in it's class or price range, this was perfect for me. It was a little bigger than i wanted but proved to be another benefit. I will keep her until 75-100,000 mile too.

i wish i had gotten a cl-s instead of an av6 coupe
the cl-s is so rare unlike the accord and has a bit more road prescence than the accord
type S
how u like that element? my friends family wants one

I started out with an '01 CLS and traded it in for an '03 CLS 6sp in January. Although I liked the '01 CLS, I missed driving stick. So when the 6sp came out, I went for it. Now that I've got the CLS 6sp with CT intake/headers/b-pipe/exhaust/strutbar and konis installed, I plan on keeping it indefinitely, certainly past 100k miles. For the price, I think it's still about the best package for the price.

best deal... I still enjoy it... it's a nice car and was affordable. I paid it off in a year and now own it... couldn't say I'd be in the same financial situation if I went and got myself a 330CI.

I like coupes and came from a V8 T-Bird. Wanted something more nimble than that. THe only other choice in April of 2000 was the Pontiac Grand Prix and my first choice, the BMW 328. It just didnt feel like $8k more car than the Acura, and the SMR is so much better looking than BMW's tomato red. I was sold. Today that G35 looks pretty good to me though.

Because my 95 Legend Coupe was out of warranty and I didn't want to hassle with repairs or repair bills and wanted to own a new car. Wanted the 6 speed also.
Miss the Legend a lot though. Hope Acura makes another car like it, maybe the next CLTL coupe.

38K Canadian Dollars.
You could NOT get a better car brand new with the power, luxury and prestige. It is RARE here in Vancouver. I see maybe ONE in a week or driving around in the city. If you go to Richmond City(largest Chinatown in North America), you probably will only find 1 or 2 CL-S's around or none at all. BUT you will see that every mom, dad and their 16 yr old kids driving a BMW, Z, G35, Mercedes or Accords and Honda civics. The rareness is definately something that stirs looks and ??? in people's minds, "what car is that?" how fast is it?.. and the TL-S is common as hell too. That's why the CL-S coupe is definately up there in the pimp factor too.
My toss up was between the C55 AMG or the CL.. but $$$ was hard to come by.

Best bang for the buck. Of course I have a TL-S, but it's basically a 4 door CL. I loved the performance and features for the money, but I needed 4-doors, so I got to get the best of both worlds. I love my car... and will be driving it into the ground. No trade-in for a G35/350Z for me.... I'm keeping it until I can get a beast like an M3/M5 or a E55... so I'll probably have it for $125k+ miles or so

Why would anyone pay cash for a car? Even the most conservative investments will earn you more than the interest you're paying on a loan. It also helps to build a solid credit rating.

best deal around. Huge ass trunk- That is my one big beef with the G35. I too will wait until i can afford an M3. The only reason i ever looked at a 330 was becuase it looked kinda like an m3 .
edit: PIF as well. No headaches. the car will be with me for a while. I got 41k on there now. probably going to keep it till it dies.

Because for every day driving, it was and stil is the best bang for the buck in its category! By far. Depandable, reliable, powerfull in the straights, fine in the twisties (of which you never find in most parts of the country anyway and even if you do, you rarely need better handling than it can provide with a better set of tires), lots of standard features, comfortable, quality materials for the money, not bad service and low price overall.

ME TOO
Best bang for the buck. I really wanted a BMW 330, but that was about $42K the way I'd want it optioned (comparable to the cls options, leather, sportpackage, winter package, etc).
The CLS is one of the best overall compromises out there. It's sporty enough, it's luxurious enough, it's fast enough, it's cheap enough, and god damn, I like it

I echo the same sentiments as everyone else here. Great bang for the buck. Since I've topped 76k miles on my '01, I'd lose my ass to sell it, so I'm gonna be keeping this thing all the way till the end. It'll make a great second car in a couple years!

I wanted COUPE........ Thats the only reason. And I wanted an upscale one at that. I didnt wanna go with a kiddie car like an Eclipse or even a Accord. But now that I did, I am kinda sorry.. I have always been a Truck fan. Hate to say it, but I wiash I had my old truck back. If you get the right set up, you got speed and style. Just gotta watch the handling.

There are the reason why I bought it:
1) Car & Driver and some other mag state that CLS handles and performs almost identical to BMW 330ci, and should be identical if Acura is not too stingy on those tires.
2) G35Coupe is too expensive. they were charging way over MSRP. Nissan/Inifiniti cars usually can be bought near invoice.
3) 330ci with same options would cost $40ish K.
4) Acura reliability and value
5) Low long term maintenance cost
6) straight line performance

It's great seeing all the CLS love throughout this thread!
I got a great deal on my 01' CLS, which was through a good friend of mine who is the sales manager at a Honda dealership here in the Chicago burbs. He brought it to me through the dealer auction with only 3,000 miles in Nov 01', I had no choice in the color, Pimp Daddy Gold but it had the navi.
It was a huge upgrade over my 00' Accord V6 and for $26,000 even, it was a great deal at the time.
I loved this car the second it hit the showroom and it would have been a matter of time before I bought a new one anyway had this deal not come along.
At the time it was the best bang for the buck and I still love it, as the color has really grown on me. I receive more compliments on the color than I would have thought, some people love it.
I've yet to see another one like it which is cool and now that it is modded, I will keep it for a while.
M3 for my next ride!

To me ... just the best car for the buck and I think it still is. 69,000 miles and still going strong (tranny #2 of course).
However, when I win the lottery, it WILL BE replaced by an M5.

Yeah, I still get this also. Not a lot of CLs where I live. I mean, everyone knows what a BMW looks like.
And the CL being discontinued, making it even less common, will continue to let the CL get looks.

I have been shopping for a car for over a year now. (Sounds crazy, but I was waiting for rates to come down for a home equity loan to help finance the new car) I seriously looked at a nice '89 BMW 635CSI, and also test-drove at a few other cars. Nothing ever really jumped out at me. I was driving a '95 riced out Honda civic EX pushing 160K miles. I loved the reliability and performance of that little f*cker and I drove the crap out of it. I consistantly got 32+ MPG and to this day it still runs like a scared cat on shag carpet so I knew that I had an opportunity take my time and buy a car of my dreams. As I was looking through a popular Auto buying and selling website, I noticed that there was an 2001 Acura CL-S for sale within my price range. A person down the street owned one too and it looked pretty nice. He had mentioned that he loved the car and it was pretty fast. So I test drove one, and that was it. Within a week I found and bought a Silver 2001 CL-S with Navi for under $21500.
Man do I love this car.

Refreshing change after 99 Cobra which was a "closed in" cockpit, had lousy service, and needed service way too often. Wife drives "Goldie" now and we still love the cockpit, features, handling, gas mileage (amazing on the road!!) and not least of all, looks. We love the exclusivity of an "out of print" model!! Plan on keeping it........unless of course we have tranny problems!
