Why are car designs SO BORING!
I am really disgusted with the car industry. All the cars out there look alike. And they look really boring.
I realized this as I came up on a Monte Carlo yesterday. From a distance I thought, "hey, that rear end looks like a '01 CL". Same trunk lines, dual exhaust, basically same size. What does that say about my Honda Accord with a Lumina rear-end car!
I got somewhat closer and then thought, "Nope, it a Lumina" They look like the CL from the rear. Then I got closer and it was a Monte Carlo - even worse.
Except for the PT Cruiser and Dodge, NO ONE, it taking any chances with their exterior designs. Not GM (worst), Ford, Porsche, Acura, BMW, NOBODY! They all look like their 1985 models with a little more/less sheet metal and nothing interesting. You see all these concept cars which are really breakthrough stuff, but the car companies are all too chicken sh&^ to actually build them.
Sorry to bitch, but Scott's Suburban has more interesting lines than 90% of the cars out there!
------------------
CL-S #22,299 Black/Parchment/Nav, spoiler, door & fender guards, wood trim, PIAA 19169 & 9005, V1 w/remote, trunk & winter mats, no headers, no sway bars, no springs, no money!

You've got the Aztek, the best freak in town
I almost threw up when I was so disgusted to see it the first time. I thought that it's by Total Recall Type Mutant.
On the other hand, I so happy, I saw it once at the dealer

I too wish that some of the concept models would be released to the public. It would make driving around more interesting, but I doubt they will release too many of them, because they won't make the numbers (i.e. profits) to justify releasing them.

If you don't like CL's exterior, you should have never bought the car. Bitching about it isn't going to help! If you want something distinct looking, get a IS300!

The rest you mentioned will never be released. But the C Crossfire looks like that Audi Rosemeyer I posted above... purdy.

That audi looks like a TT crashed into a Bentley Continental and they melded together...
Seriously though, I think BMW has made some nice looking cars. This 3 series looks nicer and more modern than the last. I like the muscular hood, the sharp edge the trunk comes too. The C70-esque shape of the roofline. The C70 is pretty too, but with Volvo lines to it. (hahah volvo and lines). Seriously though.
I personally wouldn't mind seeing more cars shaped like Legend Coupes, Preludes, and Skylines. Large coupe's, Trunks (not hatches), long hood squarish roofline, and indimidating front end.
I think that's a style that's timeless. Which is why the Legend is so popular and still good looking.

Every time I see the new Jaguar, I think it is a Ford Taurus! Come to think of it, aren't they partners anyway?

01 CL-S San Marino Red/Black, K&N drop in, no nav, rear wing, otherwise stock thus far, has an appetite for Bavarian cars.

I don't view these looks as timeless (911 maybe an exception)- a prelude or a Vigor look is not timeless - its pretty square - or rectangular. There are so few curved lines in today's cars that I get depressed - we're all just driving twenty-first century K-Cars! AHHHHHHH!

Why do all cars look so much alike? Because they are all born in a wind tunnel, like airplanes. Get the air flow over the car trick squared away, add sheet metal, paint, fabric MSRP sticker and bamm.
Cars look so much alike these days because car manufacturers have found out [the hard way] that a unpopular design can be dealt a harsh blow by the unforgiving public.
