Who here said they have the Toyo Prxes T1-S on their car?? Help!

Well I thought I had gotten some good news today when the 'shop' called and said my tires had arrived.

...So, I go down tonight and what do I find?!

Instead of the T1-S, I find a set of Proxes FZ4 stacked up for me! There was a note that the T1-S (P/N 189730) was superseded by the FZ4 (P/N 189770).

WTF?? I hope that it's only true as far as their warehouse is concerned!

I have an e-mail in to Toyo about this but I hope some of you can help me cool down about the situation. Also, I plan on calling Toyo tomorrow to inquire 'in person.'

I know I read about someone having the T1-S on their car. Did you have any problems getting them??

TIA for your help.

Pete

Mike and EricL have them. Do a search for their name and lookup their emails or just wait for a response... I'm sure they'll be by shortly.

T1-S is Toyo's top of the line ultra high performance tire.

FZ4 is all season high performance.

T1S are more expensive.

1max2nv: Thanks. I know that and that's why I want the Proxes T1-S. I am not too concerned about the price difference because a guy I know works at the 'speed shop' (I know, ... OLD terminology ) where I went and I was, errr AM, getting them at his discount price. They had BETTER still be around. Thanks again.

I have the Proxies FZ4 on my car and they work fine for me. The T1S are about 100 bucks more expensive. I had sidewall damage (roads hazards) to my FZ4 and I asked about the T1S. The T1S are for extreme performance (ie dry performance tires). The FZ4 are in fact all season high performance tires like a previous member stated. b

Actually the T1-S performs really well in wet too, you just can't use them during winter time. They will be hard as a rock. The extreme cold will ruin the rubber compound.

1max2nv: You are right. The T1-S are supposed to be great against hydroplaning. That's another reason I want them. As for not using them in the winter, you're right again! I am only intending on keeping them on the car with the new rims in late spring/summer/early fall timeframe. Then put back stock stuff for the UGLY season.

thundercls: No probelm checking sig. But, and I mean this in a friendly way so please don't take offense: put the tires on the wheels instead of the wheels on the tires!!

They're great tires and I didn't have a problem when I bought them. In fact, they had them in stock.

do all 225/45-17's fit on the stock rims, or only certain brands?

The Proxes T1-S are the best tires I've ever used. The performance of a super sticky race tire but they are AMAZING in the rain too. Enjoy!

~$550-600 for a set is a good deal but you'll have to shop around to find it.

Mounting etc is where they nail you. I think
I paid ~$750 out the door for the Toyos. That price included a tire protection program and lifetime rotation and balancing etc.

I had been given a price of $600.00 (+ tax, I think) for the whole package (Tires / Mounting / Balancing / Installing) for the T1-S.

But, remember, I have an 'IN' at the shop where I went. I have to go back tomorrow for more clarification of the situation.

I would say that a good price to mount / balance & install on car would be about $20/wheel, +/-.
