where to resurface Slotted and drilled rotor?
where to resurface Slotted and drilled rotor?
just wondering,
where do you guys resurface your slotted and drilled rotor?
I went to pepboy and firestone, they told me it can't be done. is that true?
The reason I want to resurface is because the shaking while braking, it's really annoyed. and my pads(Red stuff) are just less than 3k, should I replace them as well?
Thanks in advance

It can be done, I had the EBC sport slotted and dimpled rotors and have them turned for my Tahoe due to a light glaze from an emergency stop. It can be done. Have no clue where in GA though. Mine were done in Colorado Springs. I see you have good rotors, are you sure that it is the rotors? Were the red stuffs and the rotors new when you put them together? Or was one used?
WHy would you turn the rotors because of an emergency stop... When u slam the brakes on HARD, u get massive heat buildup on the outside of the rotor and then u get a blue line or some color change on the rotor where the pad was hitting the hardest.. that'll go away with normal driving after like 60miles. I've have that happen to my DBA front rotors plenty of times already and it always goes away.
my personal experience with turning cross-drilled and or slotted rotors was a complete failure. the metal was too thin and the heat would instantly warp the rotors making the wheel shake to the point the car felt like it was an airplane in turbulence.
OP if ur gonna get new rotors get DBA fronts and you will be in heaven. they are Pricey but DAMN they are the best looking and the best functioning rotor ive ever used or seen.
WATCH THIS VIDEO... this is what made it a NO brainer for me

Also just turning your rotors once is not enough to make them so thin they are no good or as you said "warp Instantly". It was not from turning them, it was because you were an idiot and got the cheapest sets of brakes you could find on ebay. Then used old pads with new rotors and vice versa. Did you not say you went through like 6 sets or something before you got a decent set. You act like they take of a 1/4 inch. You make no sence.
You are the absolute last person I would take brake advice from.
Also the OP already has DBA's.

no i went through one set of ebay rotors... and then I made them ship another front set to me cause I was convinced they were shit, and they sent me new pads, so i had rotor set 1 the OEMs, the original ebay front set and then the ebay 2nd front set... I had OEM pads, new high performance pads and then a ceramic set sent by the ebay DLR since I bitch them out so hard.
I had ordered the same set before and put them on my probe with no problems... I had NO idea I'd unlock a nightmare as I did
So 6 arrangement of pads/rotor combos...
turned out it was a combination of a cross balance issue with the tires that happened right after I changed the brakes the first time, weird ass fluke... leading me to believe it was the rotors or the brake job i did. The belts on 2 or 3 of the tires were screwed, not to mention all the tires had different wear... bought the car like that. and i think the rotors weren't up for the weight of the car and warped instantly.. i figured tho, if they worked once they'll work again... wrong i was
And I re-used my high performance pads on my DBA rotors by sanding them and they work fine... so plz spare me the old pad on new rotor story... anyone who blames that is either using pads that are like 10% left or they cant sand a flat surface.
you have a good memory though
I brought my car to shops and they all told me they dunno wtf it is. i had to figure out it was the tires myself. coulda happened to anyone.
lol and my bad for not reading his sig....shoulda read it

I just went back and read my post, I should not have called you an idiot. Sorry bout that. Besides I might be moving to your neck of the woods, so I should be nicer so I don't get my ass kicked!
OP you should try some speed shops in your area, they likely won't do it but may know who can.

sall good man, i don't take offense to very much... things just happen.. and it's human nature to put the blame somewhere. that's just how we are.
my neck of the woods? whereabouts you thinking of moving?
lol not many trees in toronto and mississauga

lol i hope ur joking
OP I went to many places and they were telling me no cause of the drills and slots... they actually wear out the bit they use to grind the rotor down. and that bit is not cheap. so it's usually not worth the time nor the cost to have it done.

it is the other way around. The reds dust alot more than the greens. I've used all the ebc brakes before, on many applications. I've even used a set of Bluestuff pads. The reds dusted more than anyother pad I have ever used, but they were also some of the best pads I've used for stoping power. The Yellow's have been great on the CLS. Low dust and great stopping power. Well, as well as a CLS can brake anyways.
This im my experience anyways.
Someone try these, I've read hundreds of great reviews for them by track guys. A lot on the Corvette forums, and Mazda weekend racers. If I get a CLS6, or what ever I get to replace my 01CLS, Im going to go with the Carbotech pads and DBA rotors. Here in the link.

NO WAY, $80 is way high. Should not be more than $20 each. Just because the dealer charges $200 does not mean you should get raped somewhere else. Besides the dealer I've never seen anyone charge more than $20 each.
seriously?? does warranty cover that??
the brake shop asks me if my rotors are on the car, Probably it would be cheaper if I take it off and just bring in the rotors right?
I bought my DBA on autoanything.com, should I give autoanything a call or dba company??
Thank you guys for answering my question. I think I will do it very very soon. Thanks again

my dba fronts are good still after 10000kms roughly, and I do do some mental braking when I decide to go up to 200 here and there... but the rears are simply too small.
Why can I not put the fronts on the REAR and get a front BBK???
is that possible?

You'll need a new bracket for the rear caliper, but most importantly you'll lose the e-brake.
Im thinking something up for the rears though to go along with my BBK up front. Once I get it figured out and made up Ill post it

How long ago did you buy them?
well, I bought my dba around the christmas day, and have it installed around around feb 1st.....
I don't mind getting a new set of rotors, because i think brakes are the most important components in terms of safty issue. However, I do want to save some money. Brakes aren't cheap.

Christmas of what year?
oh! and do not get those super duper 100k ceramic pads next time. That junk lasts much longer but galzes and overheats your discs. I'd rather change my pads ever 25k than replace rotors!

I"ve had 2 sets, and replaced them both times, running my 3rd set now
