So a few months ago, I came to a redlight getting off I-75; at the redlight was a silver manual RX8 (unless he was trying to drive his auto like a MT which I doubt) kept reving and reving to get my attention. He got it. Light turned green, we both turned left, got straight and HIT it. He gunned it about 1/2 car length in front of me but I got even fast - didn't shift into 3rd quick enough - hit the rev limiter - shifted to third - caught up and passed him and didn't look back.

About two weeks ago (night time) I was on Highway 92 about 2 miles from my house in the far right lane. With ZERO traffic on the road, I thought it was strange when a blue Ford Focus and an black RX8 came racing up on me (Focus winning, Focus in the middle lane, RX8 in the left lane). Now, in my 8 years of driving, I have yet to see a cop in this area. We all caught the next light. Those two homos reving, I decided to put a hurting on them both. Light turns green, when we all connect, its on. Focus was the first to get passed; the RX8 didn't peel so he/she had the best start, I was passed him by shifting into 3rd. As soon as I passed him, I let off around 65 (because I know street racing is stupid and puts others at risk, but noone was out and speed limit is 55mph). -- Side not, the Focus caught up to me and was going nuts over my exhaust, he said it sounded amazing when I hit vtech; exhaust is Kakimoto-R.

So this past Sunday I'm driving home from a long weekend of working. I'm tired, the drive was an hour and a half. So I get to the same strech on 92 as my previous kill, and this little shitbag in his blue RX8 (with his girlfriend in the pass seat) keep reving his gay aftermarket exhaust at me. He also had wheels, so I'm assuming he was somewhat modded. His was also a MT. He had a friend in a Ford Ford Ranger behind them that kept reving, too; which I didn't get at all. RX8 keepd egging me on and keeps egging me on so I broke and gave in. We caught a redlight. I asked him "do you really want to get beat with your girlfriend in the car?" "He replied we'll see about that, douche." <--- That made me hot So from the redlight we nail it, I'm peeling and peeling, he's peeling, I connect first and I'm gone baby gone! Race 1, me. He gets back up and I'm thinking he's got his tail between his legs, he doesn't want any. So we nail it from a roll and this time its closer until he miss-shifts 3rd and then its night night for him again. Race 2, me. So thinking thats it, with a big shit eating grin on my face , he COMES BACK FOR THIRDS! I shook my head, we both punched it (I was in 2nd gear, assuming he was in 2nd as well) we stayed together until I hit 3rd and was passed him, took it up to about 75 with my hand out the window just waving bye-bye to him. I hope that pissed him off. Race 3, me.

Just wondering what you drive? CLS6? Any mods? I have a buddy at work with an RX8 and he talks a lot of shit. We have closed roads at work, nice six mile stretches. I've killed a few, a Eclipse GS-t, Lexus, BMW, Stang. Hope his RX8 is next. Lost a few there too. Modded Sky Redline, SRT-4, Eclipse spyder V6, Dodge Cummings 2500HD 730HP 1150TQ. Plus we are the law where we work so we are good to go.

I have a 2001 CL-P with:
Intake, headers, hi-flo cat, Kakimoto-R exhaust, Mugen cooling mods, Redline "coolant", bored CLS6 TB, PnP & bored to match inlet on upper intake manifold, crank pulley. I know thats not all, but for some reason thats all I can think of at the moment

Nice kills for you; a stock CL-P would inch out an RX8 (I believe), so go nail that sucker!

232hp... almost no torque and weighing over 3K pounds.

Nice..rx8's are a disappointment for power. However I can say I have had my ass handed to me by old turbo II fc's. Damn boosted cars do way better at this elevation.

Awesome, I have been wondering how a CL would fair against a RX8. Now I know, CL FTW!

 

I know those RX8's are so slow and have such shitty fuel economy that really doesn't help them out. Its sad already that they don't have torque but then the hp isn't even low enough, seriously its just a heavier 4 seater S2K, I couldn't even coun't how many car lengths I put on some RX-8's its just really embarrasing.

They are great looking cars...I have had two encounters with them and both times I put several tractor trailer lengths on them before you can say "zoom zoom". Pretty much they are all show and very little go.

Actually the new MX-5 and the 8 share the same chassis but to say the 8 looks like a Miata is reaching a bit, if not just being straight up stupid.
I was asking who's stock here since everyone here seems to be going around picking on stock Rx-8's, which is pretty unimpressive, hell, picking on ANYthing stock is pretty weak unless it's a Zonda or something, seeing how a lot of folks here apparently are not stock that just makes it that much more pathetic, kinda' like the people who roll up on me on sport bikes blowing by me on the freeway, wow, must be really hard to do that in a 3-400 pound pocket rocket.
Pretty remarkable all the inane shit talking I encounter about the power the 8 has too, I think it's pretty amazing they put out over 200hp naturally aspirated with an endless redline using only 1.3 liters and half an empty engine bay, I'd love to see how much hp anyone here would have with a 1.3L piston engine, I can tell you, it would probably be close to about 68hp. There are several modded 8's running over 400hp now, still with only 1.3 liters and a huge snails attached, not to mention several in Puerto Rico running 20b's and getting 7-8 second 1/4 miles NA. So they get poor mileage, who gives a crap, they're using age old race car technology and it's a sports car, since when did any of that equal good mileage? If mileage was a factor I'd buy a VW Lupo and have it imported here, they get over 70mpg all day long from a tiny diesel. (ugh)

stock for stock, CL-S would take an RX8. Got a friend with an RX8 (K&N intake, fidanza flywheel, some other stuff that didn't help enough, just waxed his car so it was more aerodynamic, mazdaspeed exhaust, etc)..... and it wasn't even close... And I'm runnin the slow slushbox too...

 

I can respect the RX-8 for what it is.

But stock for stock a CLS auto will still spank that ass. In a straight line that is.
