when should the first maintance be?
when should the first maintance be?
my car has about a lil more than 2500 miles on it and 3 months just past. i need to know when i should bring my car in. the car manual says to bring it in like on 3700 miles. when should i bring it in for a check up?
All they will do is an oil change , so I would take it elsewhere. If you really want , take it to your dealer at around 3500 or so . But if not change the oil every 3000 miles and it will take good care of you.

I suppose you've probably found out how to turn it off yourself since then, right? If not, do this:
The maintenance light is on:
The light comes on at regular mileage intervals, reminding you to take the car in for a checkup. It first starts blinking and then eventually goes nuts. Your dealer will reset it.
If your dealer forgets to reset it, you can reset it by doing the following:
Before starting the car, hold down the select and reset button at the same time for 10 seconds.
Then while still holding them down, turn the ignition on but don't start the car
keep holding the buttons for another 10 seconds and let go
Turn the ignition off. The light should stay off now.
The light can also be on for other problems with your car, so it's best to get your car checked out.

this is a judgment call, my dealer said and i did change my oil at 3750 miles. he refused to change the oil filter. he said that honda wants it that way. go figure.consider the type of driving you do, if its a lot of stop and go, change early.

Well my first oil change was scheduled at 7500 like the manual says, but I did it at 5k. I've used Mobil1 since the first change and I'll keep doing it every 5k miles with Mobil1.
I'm at just over 10,200 miles now. At 15k miles I'll change the oil, tranny fluid and anything else that may need changing.
Of course, tire rotation every 5k miles also.

I did my first oil change at 1,000 miles. I've heard it gets rid of the metal flakes that fall off during the breaking period of any new engine. Every 4K after that. Oil changes are cheap maintenance that go a long way.
I know my manual says it...
BUT...After 6000 miles, the MAINT REQD light flashes for 10 seconds after starting the car. I have not brought the car in for service since owning the car (right now I am a little over 6000).
Should I bring it in soon?
Thanks guys!

The oil is so incredibly easy to change on these cars, just do it yourself. I just did mine at 3k miles. I won't run synthetic until I have a few more thousand on it. got to let everything bed in properly. Some say you don't have to do that these days.
On my F150 truck I change to synthetic at 3k miles. It was burning oil by 5k miles. I changed out and went back to dino untill 10k miles. Switched to synthetic then and haven't burned a drop to the present 25k miles. Your not going to hurt a thing by running dino oil untill 10k miles, then switch over. Most important thing is to use a quality filter. Frams are crap. And I've heard from a couple sources here that Acura's filters are made by Fram. Even if it isn't true, you know you can't go wrong with a Puralator Pure One filter. One of the best out there. Some of the Mobil 1 filters were blowing pinch seams in the cases under cold oil / high pressure conditions. Just my .02, your car you can do what you want.
