maintance at 100,000

Im shopping for a tsx, and i noticed there are a lot of tsx selling with roughly 90,000-110,000 KM's. I believe there is a major service tune up that should be done at 100,000km's hence why so many people are selling their tsx and also due to the fact the warrantly expires at 100,000 km.

I was wondering what sort of maintance should be done at the 100,000 km mark??

On top of my head im thinking oil change, inspect brakes, tires, change coolant fluid, timing chain?. What else am i missing?

How much did you guys pay for the major service and wat was done?

I wonder if its worth getting a cheap tsx with 100,000kms. Or pay $3000 MORE for ones that are in the 60-70k km's range with warranty left.

let me know what you think. thanks!

I'm pretty sure the only major thing is transmission fluid replacement.. Timing chain probably doesn't need replacement at all. Just check the user manual for the maintenance schedule https://techinfo.honda.com/rjanisis/...505MAINIXA.pdf

Read the owners manual. All the regular maint needs are covered in there!

Read the FAQ section, there's a thread for the OMs online.

Likely the main reason there are a lot around that mileage is because of lease expiries (4 and 5 year leases). Nothing to worry about if you find a car you like and get it inspected by a mechanic you trust... and of course, know what to look for (by reading this forum you'll find some common problem-areas to be on the lookout for).

I picked up a 04 TSX that had mileage a little higher than norm. Did all the maintenance myself, I found working on the TSX a piece of cake, very similiar to my previous Acura/Honda.

I changed the Oil, Air Filter, Cabin Filter, Coolant & Transmission Fluids the day after I picked my car myself at home. There are some good DIYs posted by members on this forum.

The only thing from this list that I recommend taking to the dealer or any shop is the transmission fluid. Honda recommends changing the transmission fluid three times, drain, fill, go out for test drive and repeat two additional times. I find that very annoying and should had just took it the shop and had it done (flush) for $100 because 9 quarts of Honda ATF cost me $72 at $8 a quart. My time is defintely worth more than $28 saved doing it myself.

^^^ Don't take it to just any old shop that's going to put it on a pressure purging machine. You can't do that with most Honda automatic transmissions because it will blow out the seals. Either you or the shop has to do the whole drain, refill, drive, repeat x3 process. That's the only option.
