Wheel shake when brake is compressed?
Can someone tell me how come when i apply the brakes the steering wheel has a tendency to shake back and forth and vibrate. This cant be normal, the car is still under warranty and i just wanted to see if anyone else had this same problem.
Thanks, phil

Just save up for a set of rotora rotors and decent pads. Even if they resurface them, it will happen again and again. Plus you'll get better braking distances as our stock brakes suck and can barely stop the CL in the distance they should.

Get them to replace or resurface. then expect it to happen again in 2X,000 miles. At that point, start searching here for the then-favorite rotor replacement.
one of the most annoying things about this car...except the tranny...and the woot woot I hear every time I jam the gas...

Join the club... My car had the rotors resurfaced and pads replace all around last time I took it in. It wasn't that bad, so I didn't complain, but the dealer did it on their own. Mostly out of guilt (I'm guessing) because then messed up adjusting the parking brake the last time they serviced the car (and wore out the rear pads)

if you just bought the car and only put 300 miles on it, I am sure they will take good care of you..
as everyone else stated do yourself a favor and save up some money for a Big Brake Kit or brake rotor and pad upgrade.
Best of luck to you.

i would think if he was hard on the brakes and the car PULLED hard to one side or the other it would be his alignment, but from what he explained the symptoms to be it sounds like warped rotors.

I don't get this warped rotor stuff. Between my two, 2003 CLS6's, I have no issues after a total of 38,000 miles. I do not abuse my brakes, or my car. Metals warp when subjected to excessive heat. I think this may be the same symptom as our "crappy automatic transmissions", but I don't know. Abuse your transmisson, overheat your brakes, expect them to pay you back. BTW, metals change colors when subjected to certain temperatures. Considering steel and cast iron, under 500F, silver, under 600F brown. Above 600F, blue. So don't plan on going into the dealer and demanding new rotors under warranty when your rotors are the color of the sky. A word to the wise.
Our cars are designed for daily transportation, with style, and is expected to provide some peak performance, from time to time. It is not designed for the Indianapolis 500.
I don't drive like Casper Milktoast. I have had to hit the brakes mighty hard a few times. I just don't put myself into the situation where I have to do this all of the time.
You have to answer to your own driving habits. I recall a thread a while back where a guy related to his friends curiousity as to how spectacular his Caddilac Escalade would perform if he hit the red line in neutral, and then engage drive while in four wheel drive mode. Besides blowing up the transmission and other driveline components, If I remember correctly, he also tweaked the body of the suv. His curiousity cost him one pretty penny.
Moral of the story: if you won't do it every day, don't do it today.
