Wheel locks

How effective are wheel locks? The factory ones seem all identical so i was thinking of getting some "super wheel locks" from somewhere. Dont want to get my lowenharts jacked. Any tips etc...

you're probably better off getting aftermarket wheel locks...but honestly.. .the Acura's are fine. They are all different, otherwise it would kind of defeat the purpose.

What a lot of people do is have the Acura locks AND aftermarket locks on each wheel. Two locks per wheel = double protection

Go with “The System” from Gorilla. That’s what I have.
EVERY lug is a lock and the key interface is on the SIDE of the lug, not the end.
Very hard to defeat and there are over 10,000 possible keys.
And all (20) lugs are exactly the same so weight and balance isn’t an issue either.

The Acura OEM locks are CRAP.
I forgot to give the key to them one time during a service appointment and the guy told me not to worry because every shop has the entire set.
He didn’t tell me how many, but I suspect only about 15-20 otherwise they would have called and asked for my key.

Go with Gorilla or another comparable aftermarket set.

when i had stock wheels, i had the acura OEM locks, the dealer gave them to me for free so i couldnt complain, now ive got aftermarket wheels that came with different locks and whats cool is that EVERY one is a lock, much like shawns...very nice.

Yeah the acura ones are very easy to defeat. I recently had my brake pads changed and forgot to give a local garage my wheel lock key.....well they had no problems getting them off and didn't have to call me to ask where my key was.

Are the lockss the same size as stock. Menaing will the lug wrench fit. I got a set of the Gorilla ones for my explorer, but I can't use them becaue the lug wrench doesn't fit.

Most if not all dealers have a "master" wheel lock key set.
They just use in case you loose or misplace your key. I believe also some major shops can have access to the set.

Try holding on to your key, and sit back. Next thing you know, Mr.
John Doe, your car is ready.

wheel locks are easy to get off w/out the key all you need to do is hammer a bigger socket bit over the top so its real tight around the edge and you can turn them off

easily said than done, anyway, I have small lug nuts that come with the rims, if i use gorilla i think i might get vibrations because they are bigger lug nuts, not made for these, rims, i dont want vibrations, remember i'm running 19s

Well, I didn’t put them on the scale, but they look about the same size as the stock lugs.
I don’t think you will have a problem with vibrations since “the system” is specifically designed for balance.

I paid 65-bucks for mine when I bought my Rims.
But don’t forget that’s for all (20) lugs. You don’t need anything else.
