Possibly a faulty idling valve??

My friend's '95 GS-R is doing the same thing. It revs up to 3,500 RPM by itself, comes down to 900 RPM, goes back to 3,500. It just keeps doing that while idling.

Your car is under warranty, so take it in and let us know what's wrong with it.

maybe tranny #4 will be the charm .. but given Hondas poor history with auto-trannies .. don't count on it!

My car flipped out once, it would rev up to the redline on its own. Even when I was driving, It was like I was flooring it, but my foot wasn't even on the gas. I had to put the car in neutral and pull over. I turned the car off then back on and immediately the car revved up to redline in park. I got it towed and had some sensor replaced for $125. Hope this helps.

two most common defects...
1. Bad IAC valve
2. Low on coolant

its some valve or something. I have seen on a few honda cars. Not hard to fix. It is a quickie. Take it in and dont sweat it.

That happened to my roomates 96 honda accord. It would idle then go up to 3-4k rpm and then go down and keep doing it whil ein idle. Never while driving. Then her car just died like a week later. I would def look into it just so it doesnt crap ou ton you.

I have to agree with Ant. IAC have not been honda's strong suit either. But they're no where close to being like the trannies.

Maybe the rotary air control valve located under the throttle body.
Debris builds up from the intake and clogs it. Needs replacement.

Don't know about cali, but Texas lemon law requires it to happen 5 times within a 12 month period in order to lemon it.
