What's up with CL's!?
I am dissapointed...but maybe I shouldn't be.
Tonight I took the "long way" home so I could stretch my '03 CL's legs a little. The road I took leads to this long on-ramp on I-459 here in B'ham, AL. I-459 is long, pretty flat, and usually is low on traffic at night (not many cops either
) It makes for good 100+mph runs.
I like this on-ramp because you can go fast enough to the point where you merge you're already doin 90+mph. I did this and there happened to be a guy in a Legend (dont know what year, but looked like one of the last of the last models). I was passing him as I was coming up the on-ramp hill and he stepped on it, I continued to accelerate, but it seemed like the CL was stuck at 105!
My old '91 325i ran to 130 with ease (the CL feels faster)...I was halfway home and the CL just wouldn't budge past 105...Needless to say, I never really caught up with the guy in the Legend.
Whats with this? Does anybody else get these results on top speed runs?

Weird. Did you do the SS thing or just leave it in D5? I have a 01 CLS, and it goes past 105 in 4th. I mean it doesn't zoom past 105 the same way it goes from 70 to 80, but it definitely keeps climbing till around 120 which is about when I got scared the stock tires might let me down.
So what?
Who races an automatic? And how often do we get a chance to go over 100mph? My '96 328is Automatic was a lot quicker past 90mph than my '03 CL type S automatic. I still enjoy my Acura a lot more for my daily driving.
oscar, i'm assuming you have a cl-p? you may wanna check and see if something is stuck under your gas pedal.
on another note, it's funny how all the people that complain about the automatic
have stock cars. but they are right, i drove an 02 tl-s (loaner) recently and it was slow. where as my car is not, it's nearly violent while in the powerband, children and old folks cringe when they hear the vtec fury roar by. and i'm not done, i wanna break 13's by the end of this summer, n/a no spray.
so you see, ignorance is not always bliss.
sorry for the rant. :o

hmmm, sounds like driver error in terms of using our
automatic xmission to its fullest. I just don't see how, (in 3rd gear) why it will not go over 105mph - CLS or CLP.
4th gear
- thats another matter. Still though, these engines pull and that Legend should of been walked!
IMO.

Oscar, I know exactly which stretch you're talking about. I was in Atlanta this weekend, came home on Sunday, followed another car and we did about 100-110 from Leeds to the 280 Interchange in D4, revs were steady at about 3500...
As for the CLP, I don't know what you fools are smokin' because I've hit 125+ on stock tires on that same interstate Oscar's talking about. You may have been stuck in 5th gear or something, or perhaps it was just a fluke...but I never have problems with mine...ofcourse it's a 2001...
Sorry guys for the retaliation but it irritates the FUCK out of me when this website refers to the CLP as "slow", "POS", etc... I don't know what web address you guys type in but I sure as hell do not type www.acura-cls.com!!!

I have a CLP and I have taken it to 145 a few times. I agree with momentum3.2, why does everyone always refer to the CLP as slow and worthless. To my knowledge, a stock CLP is only .5 sec slower than a CLS. You guys make it sound like the CLP is a POS. I didn't get the CLS for a few good reasons and its not because I couldnt afford one. I surely didnt not get the type S so u guys can bash on us everyday. For some people, that .5 sec doesnt really matter.
Who here has ever called a CL-p slow or worthelss?
Hell, it's damn near the same car and I would have no problem recommending the CL-P to anyone! In fact, I just told my uncle to buy a CLP over a Solara.
Hmmm.

I have not taken my cl over 100 yet. My last car was a 2.4 4 cly 160hp and I used to drive 120 , before that I had a 3.0 6 cyl and that car did 130 easy. I would assume my 260hp will do 140 easy.

But, I was in 4th, so maybe that had something to do with it...still though my old car kept going and going...the CLP seemed to struggle...Oh well, guess I'll have to try again
!Maybe in a year I'll keep the CLP and buy myself another bahnburner.

Hmmm, maybe I have a fast one but my 99 TL with stock headers got up to ~122 mph in 3rd gear using SS. But since I just got my comptech headers, I took it for a little test run today. I got it up to 125 mph and it was still pulling. Too bad there was traffic ahead.
