what's that hose for? (icebox)

I was installing the power cable for my stereo today and noticed that the hose that's underneath the air inlet tube that has the resonator reservoir on it between the air box and throttle body is detached. I dunno how the hell it got off. But i was wondering what is it for? Could it cause any trouble detached like that?

There are two hoses for the ice box. One for the crankcase breather and the other for the coolant reroute.

he's talkin about the one that comes out of the head/valve cover, it's not necessary, it just spits oil/hot air into ur intake, cap the inlet on the icebox inlet and stick a filter on the hose.

btw - im talkin about the fatter hose, not the skinny one that goes behind the intake area.

Yes as CleanCL said, that is the line that comes off the valve cover, and it is your crank case breather hose. It can't hurt being disconnected. It will just spit out oil and fumes onto whereever it was lying disconnected. Basically you just are routing in back into your intake. That would be the hose where a catch can would be used if you ever did a setup like that.

What type of filter do you suggest?
