Whats a good price for spring install
Whats a good price for spring install
Im thinking of ordering the comptech springs and the 2 local acura dealers wont install them. Whats a good price to get them put on? One shop in town wants $526 which seems very high.
I know that price was a rip off i laughed at them when they said it too on the phone. That was w/o parts, i had to bring the springs. I have a friend who got a S2K and the Honda dealer said they would install comptech stuff, so i gave them a call. The guy said he would do it has a side job for $150 and he also asked what i was paying for the springs and the part number, when i told him, he said he could get them for $220

most dealers rip you off if you want something done you have to pay for, juswt got my car back today from the dealer. i need to get my front rotors cut and they wanted to do it for 90 bucks, haha, i can get it done for 35.
It must be an Ohio thing rip people off on installs. I was quoted today from a reputable shop 400 to install springs on my 99 tl. I said that was too high and he said they could always finance me. Im like wtf finance labor . Unbelivable. I am going to find some place a little bit cheaper

After my coilovers I will probably get an alignment though. We'll see.
You can install springs/shocks yourself. I spent about 4 hours to install springs and shocks combo on my Accord V6 without any power tools.
If you have access to impact gun, it will save a lot of time. You'll also need spring compressor. I borrow a set from a local Pep Boys. You pay a refundable $49.99 to use it for 10 days so it's free. I believe Autozone and Kragen also offer such thing.
You'll need a torque wrench to make it perfect. It's also useful to loosen the rusty bolts and nuts. You'll need metric sockets 10, 12, 14, and 17 mm to do the whole thing.
If you want to have somebody to do it, I was quoted $75 by a small shop in Rowland Heights, CA. You MUST have the car aligned afterwards. I just went to Sears and I think I paid $52.
Without alignment, my car was not pulling at all. It was straight but it loses its "sharpness". The steering felt vague and not assuring. My H&R manual specifically recommend alignment because toe and camber setting will change when the car is lowered or raised. However, Honda camber is not adjustable.
Hope this helps.

I'm positive you have to remove your back seat. That should be simple. Helm owners should be able to help you out with that.
The rest is accessible from underneath and engine compartment.

As I said, it rolls straight and there are no wear problems. The tech who did my install said not to do an alignment because everything was dead on except for a slight toe in the front that was within spec. Obviously he was correct. I mean, hey, if you want to go drop another $70 when a tech tells you don't bother, go right ahead.
Now obviously each individual case will be different and some people WILL need alignments, but you're wrong to say "YOU NEED TO GET AN ALIGNMENT AFTER A SPRING INSTALL" because my case proves that wrong.
For all you people who think installing SPRINGS is an easy afternoon project, be sure to check out my post about having them installed at Park Avenue Acura a few weeks ago.
Yes, the entire back seat needs to come out.
See my Spring / Sway install thread to se how the PROS do it:

My back seat came out in less than 5 min
. The back seat was not a problem. The problem was lining up the two front ones so they come in perfectly.
