you should max it out...but i find the most concistant numbers are achieved through SS ...the one happens automatically the 2-3 you wanna take right to the absolut limit...if you dont bump the rev limiter 5 out of 10 times you're probablly not going deep enough

p.s. when should i shift according to this dyno

If you shift at redline your rpms would drop to 4400-4500. Yes, it i best to shift at redline, however, if you shifted earloer by 200-300 rpms it is not a big deal.

Headers and Intake will realistically add some PEAK 25-30 WHP. With Mike's dyno it was close to 40 WHP, he had a tunable strong CLS-5AT.

Whoo Hoo! What's the fun in that? Everyone knows those cars can be built to be quick. Its more fun to run low 14s with bolt-ons while playing a CD on my 6-Disc In-dash changer and staying warm with my heated seats. Who wants to drive a 86 Buick anyways?

Also, I'm not building my car to be a "drag strip car." Just wanted to get the most performance out of my "semi luxury cruiser w/ some passing power"

If you really had no reason to reply other than to hate you need not reply again. I was looking for helpful responses, not ones bragging about a 20 year old Buick. :thumbsdn:

With my IMRC fixed... lower temp and humidity I should be well into 14.6-14.7

wow so im better then your computer...can you change the 60' to 1.90 and see what that changes...BTW my first day at the track with the 3.5 i went 9.145 in the 1/8th

it only seem s low until you see me pulling away,,...honestly thats not my dyno...that was given to me by doug foss syncivic ..done on a tl with the same headers,intake,3.5L but i think it had 18s who knows how heavy...done in miami at who knows what temps and more importantly humidity...so i could be putting down more...maybe not...i may have to dyno once i get the wheels, UR, and uni chip...my goal is to achieve the 260/232 to the wheels

I have trouble getting 1.9s in 60'!, you need more power or Converter Stalling at higher than 4500 rpms!

Area under the curve is what does it.

Ask typeR to dig-up the tape of the car burning the tires in first and second gear (with good tires).

Forget about peak/max HP unless you buy a 7-speed gearbox or CVT (or are interested in top-speed runs). Look to the tq/hp area gain (compared to stock) in the “useable” powerband.

Breathing at higher speeds becomes an issues and some upper end breathing design could push the peak HP a lot higher with a cam, head work, and other mods that would increase volumetric efficiency at 6K- to 7K- rpm.

With my old car (Grand Prix GTP) I was seeing consistent 60 ft's of 1.8, 1.9, 2.0 being the worst of them...this was with bulletproof axles, LSD, and slicks....but since I'm new to the CL's...what is considered a good 60ft? I've been racing for years, mostly American, and haven't gotten the CL to the track...I have all winter and early spring to mod...tracks don't open around here until about March

In stock form I was laying down 2.1 and an occaisional 2.0 with my old GTP. On my '01 CL-S I could hit 2.2 on a good day. Now with the 6-Speed the best I could muster was mid 2.3's. For both the manual and automatic, this seems to be about the average.

BTW, what year was your GTP and were you on the old Listserv Brian ran??

Where in VA are you? If you are close to DC there is a track in Crofton, Maryland that is still open.


Oh and I was running 2.2 60's all day long. 1st time to the track too.

Voting "non-functioning IMRC" because my only "mod" was a hi-flow comptech air filter (and removed the resonator box from the intake path) and I was definitely in the (high) 14s. Then again maybe my car was strong and yours is a weak one?

NOVA had about 300lb weight disadvantage between our cars and he had CAI, headers, exhaust and I slightly pulled on him. Maybe it was a fluke but hey it happened.
