What was your most regrettable car…?
What was the most regrettable car you’ve ever owned? Mine was a 1988 Camaro IROC-Z bought brand new in November 1987. This car was all the rage back then and I HAD to have one with the 5.7 liter (350 C.I.D.) Corvette engine with Tuned Port Injection.
Yeah, the car looked way cool. But, Its performance on the other hand was just OK, not great. Even with a 350 engine this thing only put out like 230 H.P. or something like that. The car weighed two tons. It consumed gas like no tomorrow.
The real sad part was it was a P.O.S. in the way of quality control. Within a few weeks after getting it the plastic door trim cracked in several places. To make a long story short, then the flywheel gear got chewed up and needed replacing, the engine started leaking oil from the manifold, anti-freeze leaked, bulbs (headlights, taillights, etc.) constantly needed replacing. The last 2 to 3 years I had it the engine would ping like crazy and blow black smoke from the exhaust. Chevy would always have some excuse and tweak the engine or do something and the problem would go away for a very short period of time before it began again. The final straw was I was sick and tired of bringing this P.O.S. is for service every few months, pay a deductible for every service appointment, and it STILL was never really fixed!
Note to all that are saying why I didn’t declare it a “lemon.” Well, I was young and naive but there is NO WAY I would put up with that shit today!!
The final straw was summer 1993. I could NOT drive the car without it overheating. If it sat in traffic for more than 5 minutes the temp gauge would hit the red zone! I then found out two of the cylinders had blow by!! I was fuckin’ freaking out. Then came ACURA!!!!!
My friend worked at Acura and showed me the new 1994 Integra GS-R! This car was hot and I was seriously ready for a change. Low and behold the Integra was one of the best cars I ever had. It was an 8000 RPM blast. I still miss it today. I became an Acura fan and in August 2001 I bought a 2002 RSX Type-S after the Integra, but it ended up being too similar so I traded again and got the Acura I really desired, the 2003 CL-S! The rest is history.

Not to mention this was like a ~$18K car in it's day but with ridiculous insurance costs because it was a "Camaro V8", and finance charges, I think it ended up costing me close to $40K for 6 years! Yikes. F-that. Glad those days are gone.
That's nothing. I had a 1977 Camaro RS. Two tone paint. Black on top and goldish orange on the bottom. The wheels had some silver rubber molded on them to look like aluminum. It had a 350 also but I think it only had about 150 HP. It sucked!!!! But I liked it because I was a kid and it was a Camaro.
1st place: pos money pit 91 integra someone on this site sold me. no further comment.
2cnd place: 1999 chevy tahoe sport...paint started peeling off it one month after purchase and continued peeling until i won my lemon lawsuit with GM in 2001.

Hate to say it, but my current car, my 99 CL.
Its a good car, never really had a shitty car. But when i totalled my prelude I rushed to find a replacement and quickly found this car, in a stick shift and everything else I wanted and quickly bought it.
In reality I should have explored more options, but I didnt. I want more oomph and a more comfortable driver seat. Its also not as solidly built as my past 3 cars. a bimmer and 2 japanese hondas. But as I said I like the car, and it works just fine for me for now.

that piece of shit needed repairs every god damn day.
one time I was driving and a wheel just fell off. I didn't hit anything either, wheel just came off...I went crashing into the curb and the wheel just rolled away.
worst car ever.

My CL-S has given me my share of problems, but it's been good lately.
Maybe, my '82 Firebird, cuz I wrapped it around a telephone pole after having it for only one week.
Knock on wood, I've had decent luck with cars not being too expensive to maintain or too unreliable.

Biggest POS on the planet (although it looked great and was decently fast when it actually ran)
warped rotors
dead tranny
rattles that made a mid 70's station wagon sound as quiet as a recording studio
crap ass stock rims that were like curb magnets
my current ride: 98 accord V6
6th gen accord > 2nd gen TL

Bought it used with 12K miles on it. Always liked the look of the Cougar. What a POS. It was such a big car but it ran like crap. After 8 months of the car, I sold it for a lost of about $4K.
It was also very jinxed... nuf said.

My first car 90 prelude si bought it for 2000 cash and in the following year and a half spent about 3500 to keep it runing.
Everywhere i went wouldent even take it for a trade in. Finally found a acura dealership that gave me 3000 for it without even seeing it.

I think I have you all beat. 89 Cadillac Allante. Loved the looks but I put so much into just keeping it running. Bought it for 6K, 12 months later, sold it for 5K. Not bad unless you take into account the 6K I put into it in the 12 months I owner her. Love my Acura!
2003 Nissan Xterra SE with the Supercharger. Nick-named Xterrable...
It got maybe 12 mpg if I was lucky. It rode harder then my trucks and you seats sat so low to the floor. It had no power either. Couldnt tow a greased rope out of a pigs ass.
It did look sweet and had a great stereo. It did have a nice fit and finish, but over all, I lost my shirt...... The Acura dealer gave me to much for it and they had it on their lot for over 8 months. Just sold it around X-mas time. I wanted an Infiniti, but they did not want it as a trade at all. Offered me like 16 only 6 months after I bought it for 27.. Atleast the Acura dealer gave me 19,800 which was what I owed at that time.

I have to say 98' Dodge Durango...Wow what a POS that thing was. I bought a first year Dodge (Bad idea do not do it) and I regretted every payment I ever made. I leanered a lot from that experience, but it cost me a ton of money.
damn i didnt know so many people hated their acura's...the only problem i have with mine is the doors and thas cuz theyre shaved (NOT practical for everday use!..although it does pull bitches lol)

My first new car,,, I sold my 1967 Mustang because it was a gas hog during the 1973 gas crises and bought a aaaa a,, don't tell anyone but a brand new 1974 VEGA GT,,, YIKES I still remember going to the gas station and filling the oil and checking the gas... yes you read that right,,
94 Dodge Intrepid ES..
Had good styling, power and handling for it's class, but the reliability was horrendous. One thing after another went wrong. I swear, I couldn't go a week without something happening. I also think the car hated me. The auto climate control would always break in the summer and get stuck on full fan, full heat. I had to drive the car to the mechanic Ace Ventura style once.

In that same time frame I had a 1973 Thunderbird. I was a traveling salesman in Georgia. That was a great limo cruiser for the interstates. Gas was cheap and so were the wimmenz back then. That was when motorcycling was dangerous and sex was safe!
I went from that to a 1975 Toyota Celica and what a mistake that was. Little 4 cyclinder couldn't keep up with the hills in SFO when I moved west. Then there was the BMW Bavaria. Now there was a car!
