it isn't mechanical for sure since you can overrev the engine downshifting.

When you do hit the rev limiter going up gears, the ecu retards timing and cuts fuel.

I've never heard of the ECU retarding timing??? But it does cut the fuel, thats a no no, need to cut spark.

Well, I really dont know what to make of that - but the reason I ask is because I am getting a nitrous kit installed and I want to know if I need to purchase the rev limiter protector thing ( I know that was really bad) that the salesman recommends

I don't have to worry about that I have to worry about going to 9K, wet kits supply their own fuel, no chance of leaning out. But there is a chance of over reving.

Ur thinking dry.

MC22....i was looking into getting NOS...but i need to save money. But i would go with the maximum/minimun safefy device. The device is made by MSD...the same company that makes ignition products. What the device basically is--is it's a switch that will only activate upon certain min/max RPM. I would STRONGLY RECOMMED it. So you can arm the NOS system, but the NOS system won't activate until you are in the safe range. NO NOS before 2,500 RPM...and NO NOS after 6,900, at red-line...just before fuel cut off.

The reason behind it is....if you are using SS and you don't upshift in time...the car will go into fuel cut off while the Nitrous is still being pumped into the engine..and ur gonna run lean. The device will deactivate the Nitrous before the car goes into fuel cut off so the car won't go lean.

Juker008...he does have to worry...because the WET kit only supplies the extra fuel need to run NOS...it doesn't provide the fuel to run the engine...so if the car stop spraying fuel....but the wet kit still spray some fuel...but it won't be enough...u still going to be lean.

From what I am read, u can run a car completely, on nothing but, nitrous. As long as it is a wet kit. U don't need fuel for the engine because u are not using the power that the engine that can generate on its own. The way u would go lean is not just from lack of fuel but also an abundance of air...<= well really that is a half-empty, half-full view point. If u don't have enough fuel u go lean, if u have too much air u go lean.

I have SS while spraying plenty of times, I spray right up to 7.2K. I've bounced off my rev limiter half a dozen times while spraying, no blown engine.

From what I was told is that on a dry kit if u hit ur fuel cut off u will still be spraying. When those RPMs finially get down to where they are supposed to be u are gonna have either double or tripple the ammount of nitrous in the combustion chamber and that is an extreem lean mixture....BOOM.

you can still go lean with a wet kit.

most wet kits (like mine) get the extra fuel for the jet from the fuel rail, so if you dont have an upgraded fuel pump or FMU, and are running a big shot, then you still run the chanse of not delivering enough fuel to the engine.
