my first car was modded too, but only cosmetic (drop, lip kit and wheels)

thats 363WHP on only 5.8psi...that turbo kit can easily put down 400WHP on higher boost.

Im perspective...$1600 can get you 168WHP over stock. Thats $9.52 per 1WHP. NO mod will give you better gains for the money. Comptech headers are over $1000 and they give you ~20whp.

Thats not alot of money AT ALL, its actually cheap for what you get.

168WHP from a turbo kit isn't great even for lower boost levels. I'm not saying there are any better mods for HP per dollar, just that this is a car that can't do much with the power. How many CL-S' have made it into the 12s? Hell 13s are really hard for this car. Even if you were to build a +500HP engine in the CL-S, it's not gonna do much more then cost you a lot of tires.

13s arent really hard for this car. An automatic, sure. But a 6MT can run 13s with bolt ons.

This is like saying just because someone hasn't gotten a CTS-V to run 9s means its not worth modding. As a car person, it doesnt matter what you own, you will most likely mod it in some way. In the eyes of some, it may be a waste, but if it makes you happy who the hell cares? Its not your money they are spending.

I totally agree that its not the best numbers for a turbo kit, but then again we dont have companies making turbo kits for our cars doing all the testing and tuning to make the most HP. Its all custom and thats what makes that turbo kit worth every penny.

Its not a matter of how many CL's have made it in the 12s, its about how many people are willing to put a CL in the 12s. You go to the track and see a boosted civic run 12s...who cares, anyone can do that for alot less than putting a CL/TL in the 12s. Its the fact that its a CL putting down those numbers... you dont see that shit everyday.

If you got the money to put down 500WHP on a CL you have the money to make it RWD... like ThinJim https://acurazine.com/forums/2g-cl-2001-2003-50/before-after-490410/

Sure it's everyone's own decision as to what they spend their money. Just saying that our cars don't respond well to it. Every car sees the point of diminishing returns but the CL-S seems to be very close to that point from the factory. Past cars I've had I've done little more then supercharge and made double the power. I've swapped a supercharger and made an extra 300HP. I guess that's tainted me a bit and when I look at the money spent for what you get from the CL-S I just can't do it.

Anyone can polish a turd and make it fast too. One of the cars I use to get as a loaner when my cars were having work done was a Sundance that was turbo'd and ran 11s at one point. Even after some years of abuse it could still run in the 12s. Use to be a fun car to blast Vettes and other stuff in it if you could get them to actually believe you were worth racing. Having said that, was it worth the money put into it to make that car run those numbers? No. Did people respect you for taking the time and money to make something like that put down that kinda power/numbers? No. Do you see it every day? No but does that make it worth it? No.

Totally. Even then it's not gonna run 12s without a LOT of suspension work. Comparable cars like the old Pontiac GTP ran 12s all day.

Its possible your previous cars have tainted you (its not a bad thing IMO). My first car handled like a champ. The CL does not. Even modded it wouldnt keep up with my first car. My first car revved HIGH. The CL doesnt. It doesnt need to though.

I guess everyone has different goals with their car. Some on here build it for show (BrianLin) where others go all out (ThinJim).

And theres not alot of suspension work required. Good mounts (poly-filled ATM), decent coil overs and good tires and you can hook up nicely. There will be wheel spin, but thats better then hop.

I do agree that this car is wrong wheel drive though.

Not sure ThinJim is a good example as his current car is a CL shell and that's about it.

you stop modding when you're going to sell it
you realize it's still FWD and it's not ever going to be as awesome as RWD or AWD

I wish the engine could be swapped in a nice looking RWD car and this car would be worth continuing to mod ... integra/civic swaps with the J are fast but no one wants to look like a teenage racer in a rice burner.

I spend money on my car like I was hooked on drugs.
Everytime I have extra money I don't care if it's 10 bucks,I'm like what could I get.

I guess I'll be done when ups and fed ex stops coming.
