What makes a car guy?

I was reading AutoWeek last night, and thier poll question for the week was, What makes a car guy? Some replies were:

-finding something interesting about any four-wheeled vechicle
-finding washing your car strangely sensuous
-knowing the horsepower ratings for all of your cars

What do you guys think about this? I was just wondering what you guys considered as classifying yourselves as car guys...

I think the first response was about right...liking something about or seeing something interesting about any car. I have a hard time saying I'm diehard for one brand or another. I like the 350z for some things & I go nuts over the Cl for some things. Have had cars & sold them...only to miss certain things about the car & end up buying another one. My girl thinks I'm wacky.

Very well said. It's all about passion.

Being a car guy is not about owning a shitload of vehicles, but rather about having an appreciation for all types of automobiles.

I was so missing my CL-S for the past 11 days while tranny #3 was being installed. I had a smile from ear to ear when I picked it up yesterday morning. The service advisor couldn't stop laughing that I was soooo happy to have my baby back.

I definitely agree with that...I always miss my truck when I'm on vacation, or when she's in for service...and I love getting her back! I found myself today just taking her for a ride because I didn't drive her yesterday, and wanted to just drive for a few hours...there's no where else I'd rather be!

Hell, what am i talking about with this week stuff? I miss my car after only a few hours!

Although, this might be more of a "you know you love your car when..." than a "you're a car guy when..."

It's when you start dreamin' about cars.. that's when you are a car guy! Or as my wife puts it... NUTS!!

I had a R/C car once, a Tamiya Avanti. It had a sticker on the rear spoiler... "Being NUTS is NEAT!"
