No probably about it. The proof is that all the mfgs. changed their requirements [I]for their same identical engines[I] at the time that the CAFE standards went into effect.

I switch up a lot now. I used to be a dedicated Mobil 1 or Castrol Syntec user. But after following BobIsTheOilGuy forum, I use whatever and pay attention to the oil change intervals re dino vs synthetic.

Right now CL-S 5-20w Motorcraft semi-synth.
TL 5-30w Maxlife
RX-330 5-30w Supertech synth.
I also AutoRx all the cars and while the others are pretty low mileage the '96TL w/ 140K+ miles runs smoother w/ better gas mileage now than when I got the thing at 60K mi. despite the change from 205/60/15 to 225/45/17.

CLS, TL:
M1 15-50 Super Syn in the summer
M1 5-30/0-20 Super Syn in the winter

15-50 due to the thickness and it being good for the engine in the summer heat (learned it from Penske indy car engine builder. He built his own motor in the WRX that he has and a built his own suspension from scratch.) A lot will say that its not good for mpg's however, I get 27-28mpg at 85mph and 35-36 at 55-60 in the summer.

RL:
M1 15-50 Super Syn in the summer
M1 0-20 Super Syn in the winter

Again, 15-50 proves to be very rewarding with mpg's

Supra:
Still have yet to do an oil change. Its on dino oil as of right now after fresh engine build. Probably M1 10-30 or 10-20 Super Syn when it comes time to change the oil (when it gets warmer)

Explorer, 2 box trucks (10 and 16ft):
Whatever is on special

other 2 box trucks (24 Ft):
Generic Synthetic Oil

Royal Purple 5W-20 hands down the best choice. Look at the independent testing or if you watch Horsepower on Speed you've probably seen what numbers they made with it and no other mods on a Camaro. Don't waste your money on Mobil 1 its exactly the same as any bargain basement synthetic oil.

lol at the people using synthetic and changing oil every 7K? what is the point? honestly......having access to a SOS lab I can tell you that straight up Dino Oil can easily go 7K in our cars under average driving conditions with no problems.......
