I saved you some mockery by editing your title and post. It's VTEC ....... As for what it actually is.... here's a link from Acura's website... Happy reading and enjoy

I have started this before but it is very important to understand that Vtec is always happening. It does not take place at high rpm only.
Vtec is about power everywhere, not just power at high rpm.

Yeah the phones do suck. The panasonic setup we have back in New York is so much better. 2.4 GHz with 5 headsets. It's tight.
But out here I barely use my house phone, I'm always on my cell.
Anyhow gavrill is right, it's a Vtec engine which means it's all the time all it is, is a timing mechanism for smoother and more powerful shift points. Trying to squeexe the most power with the least noise and uncomfy feel.
When someone says they hit Vtec and the car just took off, well basically they are hitting the point where the Horsepower and torque at the same time are the highest combination. I think in my car it is around 4800 rpms when trq is 216 and Horsepower is about 216 also For a Stock one BTW,
In the CLS it is somewhere in the low 4000s at 232 trq and about 235 horsepower.
Not sure on the S though becaue it holds the 232 Trq band from like 3500-5500 rpms. So it is full throttle after 4000 because by 5500rpms the CLS is hovering around 250 horsepower and 232 trq is still there. CLS max horsepower is at 6100 if i'm correct.
Someone help me out here with numbers.

The intake plates open at 3800 rpm I believe.

valve timing electronic control..that works basically like this....at the low rpm..save fuel....at high rpm..boost more hp....allow more air to flow in while valve closes late.......i mean the timing for valves lifting and closing are vary..
