It provides more air, cooler air to the engine. Providing the engine air easier means the engine does not have to work as hard to get that air, thus making more power... errr something like that.

a cold air intake takes in cooler air, from outside the engine bay

cooler air = denser, more oxygen

just get one, and I would recommend the Icebox for a TAD bit more power and only slighty louder than stock (more of a growl), compared to the AEM CAI which is SIGNIFICANTLY louder than stock and has ALMOST the same gains as the Icebox, and it gets a higher pitch. The icebox IS a CAI, don't get confused...it just doesn't look like it, however it has a pipe going underneath the box which acts as a CAI. The Icebox looks nearly stock, where the AEM shows off more. It's your call. It's a nice little mod to start out with I plan to get it for my birthday in August.

P.S. oh yeah, Beetroot is right on the money

And if you don't like the stock look, just get it painted. You can get the engine cover and battery covered to match as well.

Yo man, just let him go... he'll end up shooting himself in the foot, no need for you to go down with him. It's been established by numerous members he is a post whore. Eventually he'll go overboard and when he does he'll be gone. I wouldn't waste your time on it anymore.

it depends, if you have a cl-p get an AEM short ram air, the gains from any intake are pretty small so you generally wont notice the difference between the short ram air and the cold air, and this one sounds realllllyyy sick, but if you have a cl-s go with the AEM cold air intake, if you want just the performance tho go for the Comptech Icebox, less noise and slightly more power.

I miss the sounds of my AEM, once it was off I felt as though I wasn't going faster, although I was. Something about it really grew on me and I almost lived in VTEC the entire time I had it on. It has a nice psych attribute to it on top of the 7 or so ponies. I would go back and do it all over again if I could. I looked into custom cutting it to fit the SC but alas I use the icebox now.
