What could possibly cause my brake fuse to blow?
I came into someones driveway went into park dropped him off and then i go to leave and i cant get it outta park cause the brake fuse blew, after looking at shit for a while figured it out and put one of the extra fuses back in there. and made it to super kmart and back home without it blowing again? Has anyone else had any type of electrical problem like that before?

and i went through like 10 fuses. Went back to the audio shop where i got my system installed, they ripped apart the whole vehicle and they only saw that my spoiler wire was tight as hell.

Ya, I ripped the whole thing out yesterday and I am still blowing the fuse as soon as I press the brake. I Ripped out my back seats followed the wires and can't find anything. Little more information: When I put a new fuse in the parking lights will work. It is only when I press on the brake do I hear the pop and the fuse is gone again. Well, I am f*cked now becase I am going to have to drive to work with my hazards on until I figure this shit out. Thanks in advance guys.

Which fuse is blowing?? The driver's under dash fuse or the under hood fuse?? That might help in isolating the issue.
Also, have you tried discconecting a single tailight at a time to try and isolate the issue. This would include the third brake light as well.

It is the fuse under the hood called "Stop Light/Horn". It is a 20A fuse. I have unhooked the taillight as well. When I plug in the fuse the parking lights work. It is only when I press my foot on the brake to take it out of park the fuse blows right away. Because the parking lights work before I press on the brake, I am assuming that there isn't a wire problem from the fuse to the brake lights. As soon as I press the brake the fuse pops. Oh man, do I need some help trying to troubleshoot this problem. Thanks in advance.

You will need to trouble shoot in steps. There is another fuse involved but since the under hood one is blowing it could be anywhere.
However, there is only one item directly hooked up to the brake switch output and that is the 3rd brake light. I would start there. If that is not it I would look into the brake light failure sensors.

Problem solved! Had to rip out the back seat and the back driver side arm rest. The wires had melted together for some reason. My car is in pieces right now. A lot of trial and error, but I found the wire that was causing the problem (brown with white dots). I cut the wire from the kick board and then ran a new wire all the way behind the seat and thank f*cking god it solved the
problem. I don't know what caused the wires to melt together but that day and a half of troubleshooting probably saved me some big time coin.

Wow, good you didn't have a electrical fire start your seats up!
That would have been a total loss. I had a AMP wire short out and start on fire in my trans-am. I couldn't even see in the car. It was filled with smoke. I had to pull over fast and bail out of the car!
I now carry a small fire extinguisher in all of my vehicles. Sounds paranoid, but you never know. It can also be helpful to other people if your around when they have the "oh sh?t" situation.
LOL, which seems to be frequently with my friends...

You can't take it out of park because it is a safty measure to prevent you from driving without your brake lights working. Are you still having problems? If you fuse keeps blowing it is because either for the black wire with white dots or brown wire with white dots has melted and the wires are touching together some where. You need to do what I had explained above. You can take it out of park by putting a key in the slot beside the shifter but I don't recommend driving without your brake lights. I had to drive to work with my hazards on the whole way until I figured out how to fix it.

Hey I am having the same problem about not being able to shift out of park. Thank goodness for the shift lock release. It seems like Acura knew this problem would exist, so they installed a quick fix device. Anyone have a concrete answer on why this happens. It seems alot of people are blowing fuses. Any help would be appreciated.

Dude, the shift lock release is only there for when you are removing your dash (i.e. installing a new stereo or messing around in that area). It is there so that you can move the shifter out of the way. If you have to use the shift release to move your shifter you are driving around without any brake lights. Be careful and if you have to drive. Drive with your hazards on until you fix the problem. My problem was that the wires had melted together which was causing the fuze to keep blowing. You will need to replace or separate these wires from touching eachother.

Actually, all you guys are kinda lucky here.
This is Murphy's law here, but working in reverse order. Consider your 36" color tv.
Generally speaking, a $500 picture tube will blow to protect a ten cent fuse!
