What brand of tire?

A 19x8 wheel.

I've read 235/35 would be the best size.

So, what brand of tire is best? I wan't something with an agressive looking tread & sidewall. But I also want a cost effective tire.

I like Falken tires, they seem to be fairly cheap and they look great! But I have heard the low cost is offset by the fact that they wear out extremely fast?

So please suggest a good reasonably priced tire for me. (That means no Michelin Pilot Sports )

Also, what is a good website to get the tires you recommend from?

If you want a good value/quality tire with good performance, price, and wear rating, try Kumho ECTSA 712 or Sumitomo. Check out www.tirerack.com . They have user feedback on the aforementioned tires.

I just upgraded to Toyo T1S Proxes this week, and i'm lovin em more each day. They are a big time favorite of many members here, and for good reason. They are way better than stock, for about the same money. I got mine for $160 each from a local speed shop, i'm sure you can work a similar deal. Good luck.

First contact with this CL board. Looks good!
Recently purchased from Tire Rack the Continental Touring for our 97 Cl 2.2. Price withe mounting at the local NTB ended up at $380.00. With just 2 months or so..okay. Good feel, smooth ride and we are pleased. Look forward to reading more at this site.

Here is a link to a pretty good rating site for tires:
http://www.carreview.com/reviews/tires/

Here is the link for the reviews on the Toyos (I really like them -- so I'm very biased):
http://www.carreview.com/reviews/tir...uct_1161.shtml

(The top review is a ringer -- the Toyos had a 5 star, then this guy put in a dummy story about how his XGTs are much better and hopes the Toyos will be ok in the snow... Check the rest of the reviews.)

Here is the Toyo 235/35 for an 19" wheel:

235/35ZR19-91Y (Good for 186 MPH, 91 rated, SL rated)

Eric, thanks for the reccomendation.

I've been reconsidering my tire size based on your comments, you seem to prefer 225/35.

I think I agree with you. I don't want to risk rubbing, and I don't want that buldging out sidewall look 235 might give me.

Seems that 225/35 sets my speedo off a little more, but it makes it faster, which from a navi point of view might be a better thing then slower.

What do you think?

Do the Toyo's come in 225/35? I didn't notice that size on their site. If not, what other tire?

I looked and they made the Toyo T1S in the 235/35-19. I didn't look for a 225/35-19. In general the 235s rub on 8" wheels when lowered. However, blxmjx has 235/35-19 Nitto 555s on his 19x8" rims, and he said that his car is lowered AND he does NOT rub (ever). I do believe that his offset is in the +51 range. (You could probably do a search on his name.)

There is a little bit of wiggle room -- the question is how much. I did look at the speed difference -- the 235/35-19 give almost perfect rolling radius. The 225s are just a bit fast (1%).

The difference between rubbing and not rubbing with 8" wide wheels and 235 tires is hard to call -- it could come down to offset and tire combo [even wheel size])!

I would be silly to say I know for sure -- I don't -- sorry...
