I picked up my brand new 2001 Acura CL Type S on Tuesday and it came with 35% tint all around. I wanted darker, so i am taking it back next tuesday to get re-tinted. I was thinking of doing 5% on the three rear windows and 15% on the front two...if anyone has any input on what looks best I will take it into consideration. Your input is greatly appreciated. Thanx a lot.

20% all around. I kinda wish I would have gone with 13% but then again that would be asking for it.

I have 35 percent in the front 2 windows ands 20 percent on the back and rear window. I told htem that i wanted 20 all around but becasue of the bullshit laws that says u have to have 35 in the front, the dealer cant do it for me, so now i am suffering. I have had 20 % on boith my last 2 cars and it was awesome, dont have to worry about anyone seein in, and yeh it may be a little hard to see out, its worth it. GO with 20 all around, u wont be diasspointed.

I initally had 20% all around but was too dark and obvious for me laws in va sayz, 50%/35% and 20% would of got me in trouble so i got the front retinted to 35%. if the law wasn't in the wa i would of sticked w/ 20% all around.

What is TOO dark for the rear Windshield? I park in lots with a lot of people walking around and don't want to hit one of them. So what is too dark, would 30% be dark enough that you would have trouble looking out? Thanks!

I went with 35% all around and I like it. I think it is personal preferance what % you get. Also the NC law is 35% and I don't want to be hassled.

I Went with 35% all the way around, looks dark enough- plus 20% really pisses cops off, you can hardly see through the car, especially cars with black interiors....if you want an overall darker appearance (without going overboard), do 35% on the sides and 20% in the rear- like some people suggested already.

 

I wanted to stay within the laws b/c I don't need the cops busting me for tinted windows. I have 20% on the rear and 35% on the sides. What's cool is the sides are legal, but since the rear is 20% they seem darker b/c less light is getting in back there. Plus I have a dark interior, so that also adds to the illusion....

Did 30% on mine. That was all you can do leagely. Most states frown on the front window being tinted.

Doesn anyone have mirror tint? I wanted to know how it would look on the CL-S, and if cops would harass you more because of the mirror tint

I was told by 2 separate tint shops they highly recommand not tinting the sun roof, because in rare cases the heat will be trapped between the roof ang glass and will cause the glass to burst.

 

i went with 5%....no tickets yet here in MIA! i Think dark-ass tints on white cars look great.....on black cars it looks like ur doing a drive-by!

Can anyone tell me if you can have your car's windows tinted by the Acura dealers? If so, how much is the tint job?

 

Car dealers don't tint windows. They just send it out to a local tint shop. So you have to pay for the tint + the dealer's profit. Of course, car dealers being what they are, they can massage the numbers to make the cost of the tint look any way they want, even free.

Acura Dealers or car dealers in General charge to much.. Go to a stereo shop or a tint shop some on that tints all the time.. you will get a better job.. Listen to them when they say don't roll the windows down... for a week...

So I'm new to the "tinting" concept of %'s. Looks like Less = More tint ! Mine is 14 %

30 % would be less Tint ! Correct me if I'm wrong, but this seems backwards

You got it! 5% is really dark. 35% is lighter. It is measured by how much light can get through. 5% of the light gets through versus 35% of the light gets through. Get it?

What is cool about metallic is that yea it's mirror like so I can check my hair hehe

The best thing is that the awful glare from the dumbo left & right mirrors are gone

Jus go as dark as you think you can get away with...

Yeah someone i know just got a new TL-S here in Richmond VA and he got mirror tint 20% all around......damn its sweet. Its a silver TL-S, with chrome rims and mirror tint....."see u got to cordinate"....you know from the movie Boomerang.....Nevermind

a nice light blue like mouthwash
light and reflective...

or if thats too ricey or something, do silver
metallic..Or if you want a Jedi look,
go smoke all around
