about a week or so ago, i was in a hurry so i didnt have a chance to let my car warm up all the way before heading out. i put it into D5 and let it crawl out of the driveway then out to the stop sign. when i put on the gas to get going on the main road it kinda did a weird rev, almost like i had the e brake on and i was trying to push the gas or like a bogged down engine. then the D5 light in the dash started flashing at me and the check engine light came on. i reversed to my driveway then turned the car off. i let it sit for a while then turned it back on. the check engine light was still on but it runs just fine.

 

If the light's still on, go to Advance Auto or wherever and get the code pulled for free. My first thought is it's the transmission. have you noticed anything wrong at all with the transmission before?

 

if the D5 is blinking when u start the car and put it in D5. that's a transmission error code. the CEL may be a code also relating to the tranny fault it encountered

 

That happened to my car a few times in the cold cold weather right at start up after letting the car sit awhile. I guarantee it pulls P300-306 codes and that is a misfire code. I just think its the RPMs were probably falling down while you were hitting the gas and that bogs down the engine like you stated.

My engine light and vsa light would come on, but after I let it sit for about a minute, the VSA light would go off but the check engine light stayed on. Then after a few more days, the check engine light would also go off.

Its probably no biggie.

 

probably should keep the RPMs pretty low until it warms up.

 

hey the same thing just happened to my 01 cl-s last night.

I started the car, no issues, (i live in michigan so it is cold, but was warmer yday) and (I have not drove this car in a few days, been driving my accord), i was driving out of the the parking lot then all of a sudden the D5 light started to blink along with the check engine light and then the car felt as though i couldnt go past 1st gear.

I reversed it back into my lot and shut it off. been worried all day. right now i just started the car, the check engine light is on, but NO D5 blinking, i let it warm up, and i drove it around the lot twice with no issues.

Some background on my car: When I frst got my car, it had 80K miles and then Acura replaced the transmission due the widely common problem it had. now the car has 180K miles.

Any suggestions or thoughts before I have towed or drive it to the mechanic?

 

transmission issues somewhere... intermittent but still an issue and will only get worse.

hmm any price range of repair? what are the most probable specific problems with the transmission if you know? thanks

 

torque converter gets clogged with gummed up oil and screws everything up.

but the big problem is the clutches burning up and deteriorating from too much heat.
