weird observation on nav screen

Just noticed something weird on my nav screen (in addition to my vertical scratches) --

When not in park (car moving or breaking), I noticed horizontal lines moving along the screen... kinda like the interference I get on my monitor due to magnetic field. When car is in park, this phenomena goes away... whats up with this? Any of you guys have the same problem? (I hardwired my V1... doubt it has anything to do with it tho)

I notice this too, especially at night when the screen is dimmed. I'm guessing it is RFI interference from the engine compartment, why you would only see it when not in park I don't know. I think mine is full time.

I sometimes get that too. it looks like the refresh rate is so slow you can see the screen refreshing. like on cheap old monitors.

I also have this problem. Kind of makes me wonder what it would look like with the video adapter setup and playing video through it.

It's probably using the considerably cheaper dual-scan type LCD, instead of the TFT-type that you see on all current laptops and LCD monitors.

(In case anybody needs refreshing, dual-scan LCDs use a transistor per column and per row of pixels. A 680x480 DSLCD screen would have 1120 transistors, but a TFT screen needs a transistor per pixel, necessitating 307,200 transistors.)

My NAV, due the cold weather, needs to warm up before it's useable. It would be very dark when the car is not warm. Also, I notice that the Microposser and/or Video Processor Speed is SLOW. it is not enogh. While driving I can see clearly the map breaks up rather than having a smooth scroll.

Upgrade, Upgrade, make more money for Alphine.... The Micro$oft way

I know, I know. I figured I'd get that from somebody or another. But I had to make sure we're all on the same refresh rate, so to speak. There is a worn saying that bears not repeating.

I've also noticed that the navigation system is slow to respond when cold. Is it just the DVD firing up and uploading the information into memory or is it something else? Any ideas?
