Weird noise from idle engine?

Guys/girls,

Just noticed a strange sound coming from the engine at idle the other day. I've heard it the past three mornings while sitting in traffic. It's when the car is idle. Remember way back in the day when kids would put baseball/playing cards in the spokes of their bikes and it would make that sound? Well, that's the sound I'm hearing from my engine.

Any idea what this is?

Thanks.

Linner - I didn't notice any sounds when accelerating or just revving the engine. Only seems to happen at idle.

Fuzzy - I guess you could call it a ticking sound. Right when I heard it, it reminded of the sound I described - like cards in the spoke of a bicycle wheel.
