Weird Noise

Im not sure if this should belong in Problems & Fixes so i'll try here first. My CL is making a weird whine when accelerating, if I rev the engine at a dead stop in park/neutral it doesn't make the sound, but if I go to drive off it'll get higher pitched as the MPH goes up, than it evens off after a certain MPH. If I let off after it evens out it goes away, than if I get back on it it comes back. Im not flooring it or anything, just normal acceleration with shifts at like 3k. Could it be the whine of the torque converter spinning? Anyone else have this problem? Thanks

Popped the hood yet and check to see if there's a supercharger under there? That'd be pretty awesome... Anyway, has it been colder since you've noticed the noise?

Colder? do you mean the weather? if so, it does it when it's hot and cold outside.

Sorry, yes, I meant the weather. I know when it's colder outside, I hear the intake much louder than normal.

It's the auto tranny. I'm guessing if it's just starting to happen or if it's getting louder it might be getting ready to . I hear mine whine a little but not where it's distracting. Also sometimes you'll notice you can hear it through your stereo speakers when your on a staticy (<- word?) station. I personally just think some autos are just noisier than others.

So flushing the power steering fluid made the whine go away? that's weird, the noise occurs whatever gear im in, regardless.

before i had it flushed, it was very noticable. so noticable you KNOW it's not a normal sound. but after the flush, it was completely gone. no sound whatsoever. i also thought it would be related to the transmission since the whinding is only heard when in drive. but hey, it worked for me.

Confirmed, its something to do with the powersteering fluid. I too started to hear this whine noise when i accelerated, but because of the colder weather and a recent oil change (changed to full synth) i didnt think much of it. Especially when it sounded neat, meaning it did sound like a turbo or supercharger. But after a few weeks i got this crazy loud noise coming from the front (made a thread). Anyways, after looking under the hood i noticed that my power steering fluid was low. I went and topped off the fluid (specialized honda/acura stuff) to the proper leves and all noises are now no longer. The loud noise is completely gone along with that turbo supercharge whine noise. So i suggest you either make sure the fluid is at its full line along with it being clean. Just make sure you use Honda/Acura certified stuff.

the 2 sounds can happen : power steering or auto tranny

sometimes when i replace auto trannies on TL or CL, it never makes the same sound : some trannies are dead silent, some make a little whine and some are louder.
if it gets too loud, you should be able to have it replaced.
twice i had to replace trannies just after installing them because they were not rebuilt properly.

but you guys are talking about 2 different sounds in this thread

Possibly... im just confirming my findings from the other day with the other guys who had the same problem. The initial poster could be a different situation, but it was nearly identicle to me and the others suggestions. Hope things work out.

Hmmm.. kind of weird, I checked my power steering fluid level and it's filled up to the max line. Doesn't look dirty either, this CL was just bought at a dealership so maybe they topped it off? Im not sure how to proceed, I don't want to waste money on a flush either.

I also here the same whine when I accelerate as well. Another thing I noticed was that when I turn a corner at low speeds i here rubbing type of noise. Can that be the cv joints going bad or needing to be repacked? Does anyone experience the same problem. My cl-s is stock height with stock tires.
