weird noise

I just heard this noise my car's making...it's like a squealing sound but it's not happening only when I apply my brakes. The sound gets faster when I accelerate and I can hear it when I'm driving straight and going around a corner. It sounds like metal rubbing against metal.

I'm going straight to the dealer tomorrow morning but has anyone heard of this happening?

oh, and I drive an '02 TL-S...I figured I'd post here since I'm sure the TL and the CL share a lot of the same components.

All TLs are autos, correct?

$5 says it's your tranny.

You think it's my tranny? But I haven't had any problems with it...hmmmm...

Listening to it again, it sounded like one or more of the dust shields were rubbing against their respective rotors.

That could be it, it really depends on where the sound is coming from. I'm no expert on busted trannies so maybe another member should comment. I just remember reading that one sign of a dying tranny is a metal grinding/whine sound.

Sound present when you are standing still?
If yes I know it sounds simple but check the fan belt.
Not present when stationary it could be your built -in wear indicators on the front brakes telling you the pads are due to be replaced. This usually occurs more noticebly on low speed turns.

it only happens when I'm moving and I doubt it's my pads for two reasons: the sound is there even when I'm not braking and I only have about 13K on my car.

it's not the tranny, don't let these people get u upset...

a loose belt, alternator bearing (which are known to fail on our cars) or any number of things could cause the sound your experiencing man...my money is on alternator tho, mine went. rear bearing...replaced under warranty, cuz Acura is aware of the problem....

The built-in wear sensors give a high pitch whine/squeal sound when the brakes are not being applied....espec.on turns.

Yeah also check the dust shields on your rotors, I once got a rock, we'll more like a pebble stuck in there and it made allot of noise.
