First time poster, long time lurker. I haven't come across this situation.....I have a '01 CLS bought it new in Aug. '00 It has about 53 K. No real mods other than a KN and window tint. New tranny though. At about the same time I bought the car, I purchased an Escort 8500. Love it. Just recently the detector began detecting a laser signal on a regular basis....strange. I first noticed it when I started my car at work........The detector would go thru its self diagnostics and then set itself to highway mode. Then the laser would go off...scarying the shit out of me.....loud!!
I thought at first it was because I work in a high tech area....I work for Draper Lab in Cambridge, MA.......this area is right next to the MIT campus, Biogen, Amgen........bio-tech is big here. So I thought maybe some of those researchers are using lasers in their labs. It turns out that when I use the electric door lock switch to lock or unlock the radar detector goes off detecting a laser signal. Doesn't do it all the time. Any suggestions!! Has this happened to anyone out there? Thanks in advance

 

Never had an incident like that.............my Escort and Valentine 1 freak out on laser when I am heading into sunlight and hit the windshield washer....nuts when the water hits the glass.
