Weight Reduction for the Track....

Anyone know the weight of the stock seats (fronts & rear) in a CL-S? I'm trying to figure out how much weight can be pulled from this car to run at the track, going as far as bumper supports in the front and rear, carpeting, etc

Don't waste you time... we don't drive cars that are meant to be "tracked". They are entry level luxury coupes.

At the most remove the spare, jack, and tools, and go to the track with an 1/8th or less of fuel in the tank.

Even better, try a search...

I've taken the rear seats out on many occasions and I can honestly say that the rear seat (bottom part) is probably equivalent to a 5lb dumbell. With the amount of work you have to go through, in addition of looking ghetto, it's not worth taking them out to make the car lighter. You'll save more weight driving around with an empty tank of gas instead taking the seats out.

Come to think of it...the spare tire probably weighs more than the rear seats.

Get a SUPRA!!!

Or, there is a steal beam that runs under the rear seat. I think it's bolted on. If it is, that may shave a couple LBS. If not....then I can't think of anything.

I can tell you that the rear seats back and bottom doesn't weigh that much but both the front seats are heavy. If I have to guess the driver's seat is 50lbs, but feels like 75lbs . I am currently working on a seat rails for aftermarket seats. The new seat rails is only going to move front and back, with no side airbags. I will post it up if it work.

You may have already posted an update to this but I couldn't find it. Any progress on the custom seat rails for the aftermarket seats?
