A week with my stone headers

Had my Stone headers on for about week and all I can say is "Man I love having headers " my car feels so much faster. wish i had put it on sooner. I had a slight fitment issue but my mechanic just heated up the pipes and they just kind of bent to the right shape. I had them ceramic coated and They guys at the shop told me the really dont get hot and cool fast.

I just thought I 'd give some props to Naush and let people know hear a good story about the stone headers. Because most of the post f i read people were having prob. (i'm just glad I didn't really have any.)

360, i'm doing an install of stone headers soon. the headers as shipped are slightly warped (at the top header to engine head meeting flange). i also am planning ceramic coating, however i thought the flange should be straightened prior to the coating process to eliminate possible cracking of the coating. then, a trial fit in the car then, ship and coat, then final install. sounds like a lot of steps.
do you have any thoughts on this sequence.

auCl ya i'd get it straightend first. Are you going to do it your self? the only real probi had was the A pipe need to be bent a little to get it sealed right. Actually if i had to do it over i 'd probly not get them coated. only because if they crack or a seam bust it couldn't be welded again because of the ceramic coating, i didnt even think about that. (My mechanic was telling me) he makes custom exhast too. he want to make one for my car. I told him mabey a little later

Glad to hear it went on with no big problems. Headers are the best. I love my Comptechs but:

360, yes i'm doing the install(s) myself however straightening that 1/2 inch thick ss flange im leaving that to a machine shop. i'm going to ask them to check all welds for minute cracks also. then trial fit , if ok , off to jet hot for coating

acealot15, got them last year on group-buy run here by nashua night hawk. $400.00 shipped (as i recall)
i believe the comtechs were approx. $1100.00 shipped.
doing the install myself. (install costs: $60 to straighten head to header meeting flanges...slightly warped and approx 1 1/2 hour bench grinding all inner welds

Just a thought guys...instead of getting the headers ceramic coated ($$$$$$$$$$) due to the extreme temperature involved to glass the ceramic, 1,800 degrees F, high temperature powder coatings are available that are resistant to 1,000 F, and only need to be heated to 450 F to cure. The technology is a combination plastic polymer/silicone coating. This should be far cheaper, and if you are doing REAL ceramic coating, this really affects, adversely, the heat treating of the metals involved.

df370, i was planning using jet-hot hi temp ceramic coating after trial fit of headers. the info from j/h didnt mention 1800 deg firing temps. (or adverse effect on base metal) hmm... i think i need more info.
thanx, frank

Ya but it was worth the $700 i saved and it was sloved by just heating the pipes to bend just alittle and wala! it fits just fine. and I got headers and and unichip for the same price of comptech headers. Dont get me wrong I was about to by comptechs. I'm so week when it comes to these mods
