Dentwizard sucks
Dentwizard sucks
I have a small 2in dent on my hood, almost dead center.
Went to my bodyshop two weeks ago and they quoted me about $350 to get it out and repaint the whole hood. Fine.
I was thinking since the dent isnt that bad, that I would give paintless dent removal a try. I went to a local dentwizard retail shop this morning. The guy comes out, looks at my hood from three different angles and tells me "That'll be $500".
I proceeded to tell him that a body shop, that I trust and have been to before, quoted me $350 and would paint my whole hood to boot. He just shrugged his shoulders and told me to have a nice day.
what a penis.

My dad was quoted 180 to get a 3 in dent taken out of his truck (rear quarter panel). Definetly try another location, theres no way it should cost more for dentwizard than to repaint the whole hood.
someone should start a list of all the reputable shops and dealers and the ones that suck dick so we all know which ones to avoid. Shops that do specialty stuff, like installing bodykits, custom paint, a/v...etc would be cool. Just a thought. and keep it in the faqs. My bad if we already have one

Keep in mind that dents that are over the structural bars under the hood in most cases cannot be removed. There is no way to get between the structure and the hood skin to pop them out. Not sure why he quoted you so much. I don't think there is any way to get them out. Check to see where the dent is.

Time for a second opinion. I hope you didn't think that ALL Dent Wizards were AOK

If there isn't some compelling reason to prevent them from getting at the ding/dent, they can ask anything they want. It also helps to really have a lot of experience and know all of the tricks. Listen, some of the "masters" make tons of tools above and beyond the already prolific array to handle "special" jobs that they ran into in the past. (Some do work for dealers and detailers and have been doing it for many, many years; as a result, they really can do a job for a lot less money – relative to a less-seasoned guy -- as they have the knowledge and the experience that can’t be gained from a book or some class.)
So, in short, get a second opinion from a different shop or person and find out WHY the job is or isn't a pain to do.
YMMV
