WayneG: Dealer Tire dressing??

Can you tell me what you guys use to shine the tires on the showroom? I've tried to find something close to what the dealers use here CA but no luck. Acura of Concord here, told me they order their stuff bulk and said it wasn't available to buy.

Thanks.

Good question... Ive never found anything that looks as good as dealer stuff.

Also... what do you guys put in the car to get that smell?!? I mean... it cant all be just "smell of a new car"

When my sister bought her Prelude like 4 years ago they gave her a "New Car Smell" spray bottle with a Honda logo on it.

I just ordered the spray from Griots Garage because my new car smell is completely gone... and my car smells like ass now. Especially after being in the city yesterday. (Smelled like dead rat inside my car when I opened it this morning )

I know Lexus must have a spray because all the cars in their dealership smell the same.. even when used they smell brand new.

It's my understanding that the "new car smell" actually comes from the fumes/vapors from the fresh plastic in the car's interior. Probably not all that healthy for you, but I still like it. (And it sure beats that nasty ass smell.

Instead of the shiny dressing stuff, try Eagle One tire cleaner. The tire won't be so shiny but it looks great. Kind of hard to find. Note: not the wheel cleaner, this stuff is tire cleaner.

Is that the stuff that squirts hot a blue color? I used to use it in California. Can't find it here in NJ.

The dealers used this blue silicone stuff (kind of has a strawberry scent to it...) any pro detailing shop can sell you a bottle - it is commercial stuff.

Im using Meguiars Big League Chew (Grape) to dress my tires

But Im thinking of going back to black magic or some spray because im tired of the mess and effort it takes to use creams.

I have tried and liked the following:

Stoner Solutions - More Shine Less Time - Spray on
Eagle One Tire Dressing - Spray on
Meguiar's Endurance - Wipe on with applicator

Ones I don't like ... Armorall

Just my $.02

Ok...OK...I'll talk... We use a professional liquid called Ardex 6224 which we buy in bulk from a supply house. It is applied with a brush. As far as new car smell- that is a natural by product of the plastics and leathers used in the interiors- we don't add anything!

How do you explain the new car smell in used cars?

And what about the bottle of spray Honda gave to my sister when she got her prelude? Her car smelled brand spankin new for 3 years.

Part of the new smell is from the glue's used in assembly. If you've been in a commercial building after carpet has been installed, you get some of that new car smell. So buy commercial carpet glue

Exactly correct. It is the smell of the adhesive used.

Try Black Magic tire glaze. Spray it on a paint brush with synthetic bristles and apply to your tires. Looks great, lasts long and you will not get any on your rims.

Bought it and will try it out, I've been using the 3M tire dressing up to this point.
