Way to keep front plate on and not scratch bumper

Chod can you FAQ this.

Okay today after I got back from work, I decided to work on my car. first the radar and then put back my front plates since I can't get in anymore trouble. But this time I put electrical tape all around the plastic edge of the plastic plate holder so it won't scratch the front bumper. heres a pic

There's 2 types of front plate holders. If yours is not drilled then you can turn it upside down and mount it with plastic ties.

The electrical tape will eventually make a mess as it starts to peal up and collect dirt.

I bought some black silicone rubber from home depot, and placed a bead around all the edges. No problems after a year.

What's the deal with everyone talking about drilling for the front plate??? Mine came from the factory with the front plate mounted via some screw holes beneath the bumper. 2 screws (in hidden, factory holes) and it was out!

Yes I have to agree. I've had black tape around the plate holder since last July, and when I pulled the plate to take a looksee, what a black mess. Alcohol cleans it but its hard (without removing the plate to get it all clean) to get it all clean. No biggie though because the mess is behind so not visible to anyone else but me.

I put a small strip of clear plastic shelving film on the bumper. Unnoticable and, IMHO, the bumper will never ruin b/c the protection cannot become compromised with dirt and is stationary.
