NO, Chris didn't see me on Havana, the Legend actually is not driving right now. It needs a new master brake cylinder, so no brakes
I have seen a coupe just like mine in Boulder once too, don't know if it was the six speed. I'm not sure if the body kit is exclusive to 6 speed or not, and otherwise don't believe there are any cosmetic differences. Ghost, ya I can deal with most, I just want him there to kinda mentor, that was already included in price anyways. BUT.....It is essential you read my new thread as VAFC now becomes an afterthought....

yes it certainly can be intermitant....none of the people that have had them fail had the motor go ...whats happening is there is a large plastic gear and it starts loosing teeth...it gets to a point where some times it catches and sometimes it does not i acctually repaired mine by using the shims inside the motor to toggle the gear away from the broken teeth...notice in the new TL and RL they've put the motor on the intake manifold...the vtec engagement is entirly RPM based so there's almost no way the ECU is responsible

It's definitely not the cat and actually, I haven't had any problems with the car at all for quite some time now. Almost seemed to have fixed itself.

I've dealt with a bad cat before and I definitely don't have any of those problems.

The car is fine. I honestly don't know what it was. The only thing I can think of was maybe NightRider's ECU theory.

I can also here the IMRC kick in while driving. There is a slight change in how the engine sounds once it gets to 4k. It sounds like it is breathing better, and you should really feel the pull 4k and beyond of course...ALso check to see that little hose in the back towards drivers side is hooked up to the IMRC (aka Bypass Actuator Valve noted on the car itself)

Ok, apparently we are forbidden access to the server at which the videos of the IMRC/BAV are located...so basically without looking at the car it is right above/behind the back row of sparks/coilpack and near the sway bar. You can see it in this pic, near the strut bar directly up from "VTEC" on the engine cover. If you open the pic with microsoft IE you should be able to plus size it...hope this helps! You should physically be able to switch the little lever over. The most common prob is the actuator has teeththat get chipped and broken causing it to not be able to switch over.

Hey, NR. In my last post (post #52) is the IMRC video. Unfortunately it's a Real Player video link so I'm guessing you have to have that installed. I don't have it on my work computer and tried it with Windows Media Player and it didn't work. It's the original vid from the Chod FAQ.

How'd you make out in all the snow?

could you feel a difference when you switch it manually if the teeth are broken?

No, I remember it feeling like a pretty smooth turn when I moved it with my hand. I also sprayed some lube at it in case it was sticking for some reason other than missing teeth.

I believe IMRC stand for "Intake Manifold Runner Control" (someone correct me if I'm wrong.).

As for pics, they are out there. Search the 2nd Gen CL forum for "IMRC" and you will find all kinds of info. Also, if it's important to you to see a working one function, if you don't already have it, install Real Player (I know, it sucks but do it anyway) and watch the video in the last link I posted in post #52 above. Trust me, the video works fine and it shows you what to look for when testing it yourself.

Oh, and mine always moved smoothly as I stated.

No...I bought a Type-S IM off of ThinJim...and installed a IMRC with a window switch

Since the intake horn on it is bored out/honed out...i bought a back up TB so I can send my TB to King Motorsports to be ported out...so my car will still be driveable

EDIT: But what's cool is that the J series engine has holes drilled for the IMRC to fit right in!

The actuator and the IMRC should be one in the same. The Vtec solenoid is a completely different part. The IMRC does not control Vtec and is technically unrelated from my understanding.

im taking it to the dealership today, have them check it out.

the coolant and oil levels are good, but i cant find the vtec solenoid. does anyone know where it is so i can take a look. pics are a plus.

i checked the actuator today too, it flipped but im still not sure if it works properly since i have heard from other drivers that the plastic teeth inside can get broken.

Only thing that goes in mine helm. Also, aftere I change my oil I use STP fuel injection cleaner every 5 - 6 thousand miles. Your avatar pic is funny as hell btw. If the cop situation is anyhting like it is down in the Springs then I can also sympathize about never being able to floor it.
