Vtec ?

so when I rip it from 3rd to 4th it doesn't upshift into vtech like 1st-2nd, 2nd-3rd... Is that the way it is?

Or... am I missing something

thats the way it is. 4th gear is 200-300rpm below vtec or something like that. 4th gear is SLOWWWW

4th and 5th are overdrive gears on our trannies. people say when they hit 4th, its like hitting a brick wall.

Haha indeed. I heard that there are Honda guys who have been able to tune the motors so that the V-tech kicks in sooner. Anyone heard of that? Don't know if its true or not...

yup. you can to make vtec kick in sooner. at your own risk tho. you shouldn't go too far down without tuning. maybe increments of 100rpm or so.

well the argument is that honda engineers have chosen the vtec engagment points for a reason i.e. being the point that gives the most power. messing with that point might be more harmful then beneficial.

yea you boyz definitely got a good point about dropping the vtec thing. Ironically it's EXTREMELY reliable on motors and never seems to give people problems. At least on the 5 cars I know with vtec my friends and family have.

I think I'll accept that slowness after 3rd for the reliability. not like I get there every day.

It would appear that you are missing a manually operated clutch and 6th gear

I feel so sorry for you loss.

This is true, there is a little more freed up power in 4th once an aftermarket pulley is installed. I could tell there was a difference when I installed one on my old car.

you must have a freak car, because mine always fell out switching into 4th. I had mine lowered so it would always be in when racing.
