VSA and Tire Sizes...Facts You May Not Know!
Page 214 of the 2003 CL Owners Manual:
Quote: "Driving with varying tire or wheel sizes may cause the VSA to malfuction. When replacing tires, make sure they are of the same size and type as your original tires."
But of course if you don't care about the VSA, then this is irrelevent.

how do you know that matt? VSA corrects things which are hard for a person to perceive. You don't know if its working properly.
ANYTHING that relies on sensors making assumptions based on wheel speed (which your wheels are going faster then stock would when your moving x mph) is going to malfunction. Even if its minor.
Nobody said your VSA is gonna be so off it throws you into walls.
But of course the mathematics of it all are going to be to some extent incorrect when you throw the mix off.

you could be right, i have no noticeable problems though. and i've driven in every kind of road condition there is, including plowing thru 8" of snow for 60 miles.

So on the TLS the OEM tire is 25.5, that would be a 25.0" tire. However, you could probably do a little more, but stay under an inch. So no smaller than a 24.5" dia.
I'm running 25.1" on mine and have had no problems with the VSA light coming on or anything else. And yes, it still kicks in when the tires break loose.

I've talked to someone about that at Acura and they recommended that you can go .5" dia difference without any problems.

Well as logic would dictate there MUST be at least a little leeway built in because as we all know tires wear and that means they slightly change ride height, weight, etc.
I'm not worried running my 225/45s that are 15rpms faster in rotation versus the stock 818rpms.

Well, I guess if you live in Florida, you wouldn't worry much about the VSA. Hell, I've never used it down here. If you live in the snow belt, like alot of you, then you might give it a thought. Anyway, the word is that this winter will not be kind...so good luck up there.

VSA looks at RPM of all four wheels, and compensates for any differances (indicating that there is a problem). If all four wheels/tires are the same size you will not have any problem.. YMMV

Acura Care originally told me that replacing non-stock tires on the car with different profile/diameter tires would cause the NAVI and VSA to go nuts (2-years ago). This was about the same time that they told me I would be cursed for all time for using non-XL tires.
There are cars running 235-40-17 and 225-50-17. The 235/40-17 are about 4% low.
I've got a 0.5% speed error with the Toyo T1S and there is no problem with VSA and/or NAVI. I lost sats. for an hour one day and the NAVI still tracked within a few feet (no side trips through alleys).
BTW, the NAVI updates the system constantly since the stock tires wear. The stock 215/50-17 can wear about 1/3" -- this makes for about 2/3" change in diameter! The car still functions fine with near-worn tires.
Caution: I would beware of putting different size tires on front and rear if their diameters are too far off. That's were the NSX people had some trouble.
YMMV
