K so my tranny started missing the shifs on gears ..

the 3 lighs came on posted in the title and now only the engine light is on.

And now if you drive it it's pretty ok. but still does is funky from 2nd to 3rd..

Any clues

I'm not driving it anymore till I find out wtf's wrong.

It's intermittent EVERYTHING. Nothing is consistent.

if it's a tranny and I'm F*cked can i put in an 05 tranmission to fix the problem? Seeing as I want a firm solution that will LAST.

Rebuilding seems kinda pointless in reality when it can and most likely will happen again.

Did u run the codes?

Same thing happen to my car last month.
Code was P0740 torqe converter soleniod switch open or something like that?
99% its the tranny i just had mine rebuilt , The place that rebuilt it seeemed like they knew what they where talking about and I called like 10 rebuilders.
They rebuilt my tranny using rebesto clutch packs, sonnax end plugs, transstar torque converet , hayned ATF cooler and Amsoil sythitic ATF.
I only had it 2 weeks 500 miles and seems to be shiftin fine soo far..
Tatal cost was $3200 atfer tax! and got 3/36 warrenty!

I got a local guy, my mechanic at the DLR who always works on my car has a good friend with a shop at home and is going to rebuild mine for 1400 CASH canadian.

No warranty obv, but he's done major work on cl's and tl's and my BUDDY at the dlr is saying he's my guy if I need anything tranny related to be done.

So I think that's my route.

I dont think i would get this tranny w/o a warrenty.
Might as well get a junk yard tranny for $500-$600 and pop it in if you are gonna get one rebuilt w/o a warrenty!

I really trust my buddy's work and what he says tho. For the price I can't go wrong.

A used tranny installed is the same price even still so my option is still the one I'm gonna go with.

like I said, what other option is there. For 1400 i'd get a used tranny and then have to pay someone to install so that'd be 1400 prolly anyways w/o a warranty.

And a rebuild tranny is pretty much a new tranny... and I'm not throwing Gs into this problem either so. my options are slim.

He's done several tl's and cl's and they've lasted longer than the tranny that come from the factory.

One guy in particular got his done at 169k and now he's at over 500K without any issues.

The way i see it proof is in the putting.

I don't want a 36000km warranty or w/e cause if it's gonna crap out it'll be near 100000KMS, and no warranty covers that.

It always seems that when u got a warranty nothing happens and when it expires that's when the fun comes.

Only problem is I gotta wait 2 weeks before he can get to me cause he's doing a supercharger and bunch of other shyt on an nsx. he does it after work from the DLR cause he's got a shop at his house. So he's been around the block

Yeah but he might mess something up or forget to put a clutch pack or some other small peice in when he rebuilds it and it might go in the first 100miles. I dunno why he can't give u at least a 12/12 warrenty like u said b4 what good is a 36Km mile warrenty if it will last 100Km but the true test will be the first 1k miles. The trans has ALOT of small parts to it and it can be very easy for human error when putting it back together.
SO at least get a 12Km warrenty!

I appreciate your explicit concern StonedCL but he's done this countless times, which is also why the price is so damn GOOD.

I would never go with this option if I met him myself. but he's a Friend's (personal mechanic) friend and they've worked together for 15 years. And my mechanic buddy is doing me a HUGE favor by not sending me to the fishies (the DLR) and he obviously trusts his good buddy since he's telling me what to do and not to think about anything else cause i'll just be screwing myself.

Every problem so far my buddy has diagnosed properly to a tee, and the workmanship is second to none.

When he did my timing belt and water pump... etc it looked like the car wasn't even touched. That's the sign of quality.

That's why I want to make sure I go get it done by someone who's been there before and knows exactly what to do and expect.

I can't get a wicked price and a guarantee, it's one or the other. and i'm choosing low price.

Knowing it's done by a pro is better than paying through the ass with a warranty and hoping for the best IMHO.

Get the codes read before you go blowing money on a new tranny.

I did that, it was the first thing i did like 3 hrs ago. it threw the tq converter code so that's pretty much all she wrote.

Rebuild time.

THANK GOD i know these guys who are helping me out through this whole ordeal or else I'd be out an extra 2-3 gs.

That's free rims and brakes for the car WOOHOO

Good luck,

All I was tring to say was that no matter how many trannies he fixed humans make errors even the best of us can make a mistake 1 out of 100 times. Is he gonna fix it if it breaks 5 miles down the road?
Thants all I am saying people make mistakes even the best at what they do..
I belive he is great and knows what he is doing but he also can install a new torque converter that was defective from the facktory..

BTW find out what kinda Torque converter he is gonna use?
I "heard" from more then 2 rebuilders that Trans star recon torque converters where the best for this transmission, and they learned by trial and error!

i did not know that about the tq converter. I will find out that info before I do anything. i got 2 weeks till her can fix me up anyways, so I'm going to have a lot of questions for him before I give him the big thumbs up.

Thanks for the heads up
