VSA, check engine, !

I recently purchased an acura 2001 cl type S.
While I was driving the vsa randomly started kicking in.
It does this at all speeds even when I turn vsa off.
It also will sometimes keep climbing on the rpm meter without switching gears until I let go of the gas.
Ive gone to a few mechanics and the acura dealership.
Im getting different answers from everyone!!!

When im driving it will feel like my car all the sudden wants to go backwards this will happen at different speeds.

Ive had the codes read at the dealship they told me these could be from past errors.
erros where
Right rear wheel speed sensor
yaw rate sensor
ecm pcm failure
possible trans failure
sub throttle motor failure

Then i got the codes read a few hours later by a mechanic
and had the error
improper gear ratio

I pulled the fuses for vsa
and the car seems to run fine.
I also found out how to reset the VSA system
this is done by holding VSA button and brake down. And turning the key from position I to position II. I do this a few times and my car will run fine for awhile.
Then randomly it will start doing this crazy things again sometimes it takes a day sometimes a few hours sometimes a few minutes. It brakes out of nowhere and will throw the car back very scary.

I also read online that there have been many problems with the vsa chip. Can I bypass this chip?
Anyone hear of this before? I would appreciate any advice.
I really dont think its the transmission. When i have it in park and go through P,N,R,D5 it seems to switch over fine.
I read that the vsa chip may cause my car to keep climing rpm without swtiching gears and send brake signals
please help

Best thing to do is pull the codes..

If u just bought it chances are the last person that owned it felt the tranny start to sputter so he changed the ATF and reset the lights and traded it in...
Very common to read someone on here that just bought a 2nd gen TL/CL and the tranny goes a week or month later.. I went through 3 I just got one rebuilt in NJ w/3 year 36K warrenty for $3000 Acura wanted $4100 ..

Where did u buy it ACura DLR and how long ago did u buy it most new car dealers have to give u 30 days 1k mile powertrain warrenty what state r u from?

when I had that deal, my codes were MAP higher than expected and TPS something or other. I replaced the throttle body (MAP sensor and TPS are a part of) and the problem was resolved. No tranny probs since the "fix" they put on the second gear back in 06/07 when they repl. my original trans. (83K). I am now at 131K and she rides as good as the day they put the new trans in.

I didn't go to the acura stealership to have the codes read, I went to autozone. No reason for them to "upsell" when they're reading them for free...

sounds like tranny already slipping... did you confirm if yours had extra lube injector (2nd gear) installed? Try replacing tranny fluid see if you feel any difference. Obviouslly codes help... this is just my humble opinion

i figured out the problem!!!
it was my APPS
well im pretty sure thats what it was
i cleaned it reconnected the sensor and bam! it was all good
i feel stupid but i thought id post incase someone ever ran into the same problem
its located to the left of the engine
it had a cover on it
i took it off cleaned it
cleaned the sensor
i also made sure all the other sensors were connected properly and it seemed good after

the only problem i still have is the gear will not switch at 60km/h all the time
i have to let go of the gas for it to switch
this doesnt happen very often but once in awhile
i believe this is my transmission
but its not happening enough to really replace the transmission over it

Is there anyway i can prolong the life of my transmission since i notice this problem now?
could it possibly be something else since it is not a constant thing?

i recently had those same 2 lights come on and I just rebuilt the tranny and it turned out pretty friggin good. My gears we burnt... literally they'd deteriorated over a milimeter in some cases. And yes it'll hold once ur in gear but it wasn't working properly.

anyways.. long story short.. the odds are it's ur trans going... and I got a guy who could do it for you ... same guy who did mine. He's an acura technician too.. and has been a mechanic since 1986.. so that's all I need to know..
