Variable Wipers/Speed of Car???

Hi - When I have my wipers on variable speed on my 2001 CL-S the speed slows down when I come to a stop and speeds up when I go faster - without me changing the variable speed! Is this normal??

Thanks, Rustito

Yup. I think it's pretty cool. Stops them from going dry on the windshield and making that lowely dry rubber on glass noise

I only wish we had a water sensing windshield.

Wow, totally cool feature. At first I thought there was something wrong with it but I noticed that it really made some sense to me!!

The stop and go thing works on the six speed too. if you are at a stop, everytime you release the brake it will wipe. even tho you dont move.

Yea….. I occasionally have fun playing around with that when waiting at a red light.

i had rain sensing wipers on the passat i just traded in. they were neat and worked OK but you would have to fiddle with the sensitivity setting in light rain and snow or just hit the manual wipe every so often to help compensate. and if the windshield smeared for whatever reason (bug splat, mud), the sensor would read it as wet and go into constant swipe mode. other systems i've seen have multiple sensors on the windshield which probably help with these false readings.

the speed sensing wipers and the other wiper related details in my 2003 Accord balance it out. i'm finding they actually work better and require less fidldling.

another cool wiper feature - when you hold the washer fluid lever in, it sprays for a couple of seconds before the wipers even move. on past hondas and my passat, the wiper would move as soon as you hit the fluid lever which caused them to drag over dry glass once or twice. do acura models have this "delayed washer swiper?" :P
