Valve Stem Caps Stolen!

Aaargh!

I noticed this morning that my valve stem caps were gone. Since I just cleaned my car on Friday night, and only went out (with the car) once yesterday, I'm pretty sure where it happened -- King of Prussia UA Theatre (the one next to Nordstrom Rack/Best Buy/Chammps). I went there yesterday afternoon to see The Italian Job (which was sucky and too predictable).

My SSR rims came with nice SSR logo'ed metal valve stem caps. Now they're on some asswipe's bicycle.

I just ordered these. I got them directly from Spin-Caps, but I saw them on ricks2k too. I thought about one's that were sold at Griots, but they're $30 where the spin-caps without stripes are $7. Hopefully, they'll work!

That sucks. Mine have been stolen twice over the last 10 years. Even the cheap ones.

I posted this once before, but no one seem interested. I can get "theft deterent "A" caps". This is a pic of a set I have sitting at home.

I have a set of Chrome ones on my Chrome Rims. As you can see, they have to be put on and taken off with a wrench type tool. If you just walk up to them and try and take them off, they just spin!!!

Here is a link to them on the Griots Garage Website. They go for $36.95 before shipping. I can probably get them to you for $30 shipped. Maybe less.
http://www.griotsgarage.com/catalog....2520&SKU=92590

I can get this stuff too!!

http://www.griotsgarage.com/catalog....2520&SKU=92514

http://www.griotsgarage.com/catalog....2520&SKU=92533

Let me know what you guys think!!

Yes. I thought about the Griot's ones, but I think the logo (in color or black) would stand out too much on my otherwise silver painted rim. I think a plain metal one would be a little more low-key, but just my opinion. The price difference is significant too. I figured that if I hate them $7 isn't too much money to waste.

I hate fawking KOP Mall with a PASSION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You get all the assholes from the city and the mainline area who don't give a shit about anybody but themselves. I almost got into a fight with some jerkoff in the parking lot of the movie theater. I'm never going around there again.

I agree -- too many punk-ass kids most times when I'm there.

What other theatres are around here (Main Line) with big screens and stadium seating? and where it's safe for me to park my car and still find it when I come out of the theatre (ie: not in the 'hood).

Slimey,
ugh unfortunately, none, unless you want to drive all the way up to springfield If you MUST go to UA in KoP then I would suggest parking on the side of the movie theater all the way by Lockheed.

Yea when i got my BBS wheels and put them on my car, they were already gone the next morning. Didn't even have them for 24 hours wtf. Then I put on a set of cheap chrome ones for walmart that WERE $1. Those also got stolen within the first three days of putting them on. People just take them off all the cars in my driveway at noght I assume. DAMN JACKASS LITTLE NEIGHBORHOOD PUNKS.

Those ARE nice. I may buy a set.
Make sure you don’t pick one with a “knurled” surface or it kind of defeats the purpose.

You still need the key to unlock the knurled ones (according to the site).

Yea, I understand.
I just figured it would be more secure with a SMOOTH surface like the ones NSXNEXT posted above.

With the KNURLED surface you are going to need to really crank them on so they can’t be removed by someone with a good finger grip.

I don’t think any of them really “LOCK”. The tool just allows you to tighten them really good via those two pins.

We'll see when I get them. I ordered a knurled and one with delrin. My impression is that the outer cylinder freely rotates on the inner AND the inner can only be moved (tightened) with the tool, as you cannot grip it by grabbing the outer cylinder.

Of course it doesn't look that hard to fabricate a novel wrench out of something with a point -- say a key or coat hanger. I think these things are deterrants more then absolute security.

You're RIGHT.... My BAD

Patented locking mechanism and key prevent Spin-Caps™ from being unscrewed by hand. Once installed they spin freely and cannot be removed without the key.

I bought machined/polished aluminum valvestem caps with knurling and Teflon inserts (no siezing problems) from Wal-mart for about 3 dollars. They have several bright color finishes, black and natural. look pretty sharp with the alloys!

It's too bad they were stolen, really, but let's get real here. Both of these situations have happened to me.

Not much really beats walking out the front door and seeing your car resting on four concrete blocks with the wheels and tires gone.

Oh, wait a minute...that DOES get beat by walking out the door in the morning and having the ENTIRE CAR GONE!

I now know how a woman feels when she gets raped (I THINK. any females out there, please don't take me to task. I did say, I THINK...) I hope your car never gets stolen. It is a really bad experience.

With my luck, I'd put those things on my car and the punk(s) would get pissed that they can't get them off and they'd key the car.

My spin caps came yesterday. They work and look like the site implied. The outer cylinder rotates freely on the inner. The inner can only be tightened and loosened by the end with the little wrench.

Only thing, mine didn't come with those little rubber gaskets inside. I thought it was important for the caps to form a seal on the stem. I'm going to pick up some $1 plastic ones and do a gasket transfer.
