V1 saved my...

ASS!!!

I was coming home from Chicago on the Dan Ryan, heading south out of the city. A 300M got right on my ass, and then pulled into the left-most lane. Just about that time, my Ka band went nuts, and then as quickly as it came on, it went silent. It was coming from behind me. Then again it comes on, then off quickly.

This dude in the 300M pulls up next to me by this time and revs his car a bit. I could tell he wanted to run. So I smiled, but I didn't bite... He then takes off and the V1 goes nuts again, but this time I see a cop a right behind this dude. By now, the guy is easy at 85mph-90mph... The copper catches up to him, and pulls him over.

Now, granted most detectors probably would have picked up on the 'instant on' that the State Trooper was doing, but it was certainly nice to know that he was behind me. Damn I love that thing.

You would be surprised how many radar detectors can't pickup the weak Ka band from behind.

Anyway, with all the radar activity, do you think the cop clocked the speeder with radar from behind or do you think it was the pacing thing?

I have considered getting the V1 but my question is how well do they work if you have tint on the windows?

I had it on my 94 SHO with tint and it worked just fine. I specifically asked the tint installer about this and he said that the metalized tints would be a problem for the radar detector but not the regular tint.

Welcome Dude. I had 2 SHO's also, a 93 and then i traded it on a 97. How's your 99 doin ? Any upgrades ? I used SHO Shop in southern cal for upgrades, they were great and now he has a supercharger i think. Sleeper car with decent mods. Good luck.

My V1 was doing the same thing today, Ka band from behind. Ka is ALWAYS cops so i started slowing down and the intensity increased as he obviously was moving up. I never saw him because i had to exit, but i'm sure he was there. What a great feeling, feels like you're Superman

If I were to take a guess, I'd say he got him with radar. He easily had him on radar as he moved into the left-most lane and there was no one between him and the 300M. Once he was in the lane, he could have paced him, but by then, it was all over. That and the fact the jackass just floored it and the cop was right behind somewhere, I'm sure he saw him take off.

Yo how is that 300M? Can we kick it's ass? They have like 10 more hp than us and probably less torque, plus it's friggin huge so it must weigh at least as much as our car.

H.P. is 253. I think 0-60 is 7.9 or 8.0

Ah I thought it had 273hp... the most of any NA V6. I must have been mistaken.

We finally gave my son the 94 SHO in college for a year. With 100K miles it wasn't as reliable as it needed to be so we traded it in on a new Eclipse GS, for him.

The 99 has a full alarm and PIAA fogs behind the grille. The V1 is hardwired in there right now but I'll be moving it to the Acura this week. My wife will be drivingthe SHO now and she won't be needing the V1 (knock on wood).
