Used SUV for the winter

Looking into buying a 1999-2001 SUV in the range of $9,000-12,000 (CAD). Need it to go drive to the cottage and move stuff for my business. What would you buy?

- Ford Explorer
- GMC Jimmy
- Jeep Grand Cherokee

The Pathfinders and 4Runners are way too pricey. Only the ones with really high miles are in this price range.

What do you recommend

Grand Cherokee. Had 2 of them. Good ride quality and good overall quality.

Ford Exploders are good. GM's are shiznits....Jeep? I dunno. Never had much luck with them. Had 4 Explorers all have been good. I have a 96 Exploder Eddie Bauer right now and it's great. Paid $7000 for it and it has everything. Put a little remote starter on it and you are in like Flynn.

Get yourself a low-mileage 2001 Ford Escape 4x4.

They're excellent in the snow, have really decent cargo space, and even get decent fuel economy.

go with the jeep or the GM. Fords tend to run good for a while, Then all of a sudden 10 things break at once. Remember the acronym... FORD - Found On Road Dead
Or
Fucked Over Retarded Dodge

I can't even count the amount of times I have been stranded somewhere because of some sort of problem with a ford.

To each their own, but everyone I know that has a Jeep/Chrysler vehicle has nothing but problems, even when their shit is new.

Jeep Cherokees have to be one of the most problem riddled SUVs on the face of the earth.

Actually, if you listen to us you're nuts. Tom2 had a good idea with the Escape though. Great vehicle, not expensive and roomy with 4WD.

You should buy jimcol711’s 2000 Dodge Ram 1500 4X4 Sport.
He has to STEAL gas because he can’t even afford to fill the thing up.

Should be for sale soon if you don’t mind the Gun Rack and the rebel flag on the roof.

PS…. Hi Jim

I've been looking for a 4x4 compact pickup for winter/beater duties.

Used Tacos ain't cheap. Nissans are a little better.

S-10 and Rangers, domestic reliability ->

I missed an e-bay auction for a fullsized 91 Blazer. Removable top would be .

FORD = Fixed Or Repaired Daily.

Anyway, Jeeps are great up to 100K, then everything just falls apart. Not at the same time though, only once you fixed on e problem, another happens so your constantly fixing something.

Get a ford escape. Just make sure that all of the recalls and TSB have been done, thatn you're good for another 2000 miles before the next TSB or recall hits.
