Question UR Flywheel...

So I ordered it last week on Wed, Feb 28. And a few days go by without ever getting an email with my tracking number. So I decided to give them a call today and spoke with one of their customer service reps. Ends up being they're telling me it'll take 2 weeks from now for me to receive it. So I ask if it was on backorder for whatever reason, and the guy tells me, "Yea, a little bit". The answer stunned me. Makes me think they're are going to make one within the next 2 weeks and send it to me. Should I be worried?

^^True that. As you know there are few 6 speed CL's and a very few of those would be ordering a UR Flywheel especially compared to an s2000 or 350z for example. So the demand is pretty low, so it will take longer for them to get around to it unfortunately.

Why would it take them so long to get around shipping what I paid for. If they have it, you simply put it in a box, and ship it out, whats so hard about that....I honestly get the feeling they never made a UR Flywheel for the CLS. I guess I'll see...

They're not supposed to charge your credit card until it ships from what I understand. If it's going to take a few weeks, I bet they have to schedule a run to make one for you.

At least you know you're dealing with a reputable company. Now it's just patience.

I'd have to guess that they are going to make it fresh and that there aren't any lying around their warehouse.

They dont have a clutch/flywheel/PP combo though. I only bought the UR Flywheel, and a stock clutch/PP from another site.

Damnit. I never think twice about it since I rarely see you around in our neck of the woods. My bads, I would have, had I remembered.

You should tell Klepto to put a sticky thread in our section of the companies you can get deals on. That way 1st genners will go to you before buying on ebay or other sites.

Damn, I see you even have a phone number in your sig. I never noticed that. I'll talk to Klepto for you.

I may have to replace my clutch soon.

Does anyone know what the quality of this flywheel is compared to stock in terms of reliability?

I was shocked at the price, sooo much more expensive than a stock flywheel. I was expecting it to be around the same price as stock, as most items oem items are relatively expensive. Boy was I wrong.

Other note:

Does anyone know if this flywheel is a dual mass unit?

allmotor described a problem he had with the Comptech flywheel not being a dual mass unit and it made things worse for him:

I do not have the specs on the flywheel. In fact they never had one in stock. I spoke with them today and was told that the flywheel was going to be taken to a machine shop this Thursday. The customer service rep also told me that I wont be seeing this flywheel for another 2-3 weeks at the latest. From my understanding, the aftermarket light weight flywheels for ours cars are not dual mass flywheels. But again, I do not speak for this flywheel in particualr since I do not have any specs on it except for the fact that it was sold as an aluminum light weight flywheel.

I also read that thread where problems arroused from using a light weight flywheel with a UR pulley. I am willing to take the risk and learn the hard way myself. I will give everyone updates on a monthly basis for 6 months and let you guys know how it turns out. If it doesnt break within 6 months of tracking the car, then I would recommend it to everyone else as a reliable street driven product based on my experiences alone.

I hope to come accross good things with this flywheel and add another product for the CL guys to use.

i heard you can have both lighten flywheel and stock size UR crank pulley IF you have an aftermarket PP and clutch too...

maybe i heard it wrong.

Like you said, if you are willing to take a chance and be the first to try that, a big to you...

I canceled the order. They were taking WAY too long. I ordered this back in Feb. I'm going with cl8ter's set up sometime in the future, once it's available.
