I am having the Unorthodox crank pulley installed this morning. With shipping it set me back $197 + $36 for two Gates belts.
UR indicates that it takes 5 to 7 days for the computer to adjust before any results are seen. Is that typical??
Not that 5hp is going to make a noticeable difference.

before you flame me i tried doing a seach on the hazards of the crank pully upgrade....i myself am interested in doing this mod, but i heard that a lightend crank pully causes a lot of stress on the crank shaft, in turn decreasing the cars engine life up to 25%...what i was wondering is if anyone who has a pully installed has seen any side effects from this mod?

i doubt that the pulley will do that to your car. i mean the crank pulley is the same size as the original pulley, so no difference is being made. another thing is that the new pulley is about 10 pounds less than the old pulley. so it is actually making an improvement on your car.
OAKROADSTEVE. you got a pretty good deall with your stuff, u actually paid about 20 dollars more than me. which is good. I dunno how long it will take for you to notice a difference, but i havent gave my car any juice yet. i want it to get used to the new pulley. and it should give us a lil more than 5 horsepower. maybe around 8 horsepower to the wheels. 85% of the horsepowwer gained, is from the weight loss. and its a lot of weight loss.

with the entire UR ultra SS pulleys for around 300 dollars, i have read reviews of hp gains of 3hp for every pound lost of an OEM pully

my mistake....i just found this, the crank pulley is pretty safe, its the underdrive pulleys that will do damage
Additional power gains can be seen from the underdriving of all the accessories (which accounts for about 15% additional gain). However, we do not push underdriving for two main reasons. First, it is important to keep charging systems, air conditioning, power steering, and water pumps moving fast enough for every day driving.

I dunno for sure but I think the original one should be around 8-9lbs. 11-12 seems a little too much even for a stock one.

I'm confused, 2.7hp for every lb. lost on the crank pully, right. stock weighs.....lets say 8lbs. UR's weighs 2lbs., alright. 8 - 2 = 6, 6 x 2.7 = 16.2, 16.2hp is it me or is something not right about this.

i dunno, i read that it is predicted to give 8-12 hp gain to wheels. and i did do a wot on it. and i feel the difference big time. its not as much as headers did, but it is almost as good. i def. feel that these are worth getting. WOW. website is right i believe, cause it does weigh 2 pounds (it said it on the box that was shipped to me). and it does show on all the sites that it gives you a 2.7hp gain per pound lost. and 85% of the hp gain is from weight loss. there is still another 15% of something else that makes our car faster.

i installed the whole underdrive kit, and it gives the car a new feeling at WOT when VTEC engages, i feel myself not needing to accelerate past certain RPMs anymore because i'm hitting 60 faster than usual.
has anyone noticed a SLIGHT increase in engine noise? i hear slightly more noise coming from the engine than normal but its nothing that bothers me and i figured its because im underdriving all the accessories.

I had the pulley install completed on Thursday. I opened it up this morning but did not notice much. UR states that it takes 5 to 7 days for the computer to adjust. Why not simply disconnect the battery cable for 1/2 an hour or so and then put it back on? The computer should re set immediately.
I have a Gtech performance meter and will check it out next weekend. My CLS responded nicely to gutting the intake resonator and dropping in a K&N filter. I am hoping for more of the same with the crank pulley.
