So what will this mean if you have to go into the dealership for maintenance?

I don't go to the dealer for maintenance.

But if I do end up cutting the wires, I'll use matching male and female connectors in such a way that if I want to remove the aftermarket components, I will be able to just plug the wires back together in their stock configuration. I will not trade, or sell, this car, with all these performance parts on it, so as I modify it, I do so knowing the stock parts will be going back on at some point.

Scalbert.

Does the number (vertical) correspond to Pin # on each connector? This a great diagram, but do you have a picture of the connector and associated pin function?

Thanks!

Yes, that is the associate ECI pin number. Now where to find out what it is, try here:

That is of no concern at this point; the drivetrain is now my responsibility. If I do take it in for unrelated warranty service I'll tell them to keep their hands off and not to go joy riding.

The crank position does not get used because we're going right to the coils?

Spoke with Tony, and he said that they might have our 5K RPM problem solved. He's going to call me back tomorrow, and maybe I will have a demo chip hardwired in my car when I get it.

Will I need an OBD-II scanner to see the actual timing with the e-manage?

With http://www.obd-2.com software you can see what the ECU is commanding as the advance. But nothing other than a scope would be able to tell us what the actual timing is after going through the e-Manage.

A two channel scope could show the ECU commanded signal and the e-Manage output. The offset would be the timing change.

Hey Steve, After some extensive research on getting a new management system for my FI S2K, I concluded that the E-Manage is also the best for what I need. Short of getting it tuned on a dyno, whats your stratagy for tuning? I'm trying figure out what kind of tools I should buy in addition to getting the e-manage stuff. Need to know how much money to save.

Also, as a note, I've read that people tried both the map sensor method of controlling fuel as well as Injector Duty Cycle method, the results were significantly better with the IDC method.

For the Auto guys will the unichip also be able to eliminate the ECU from shifting from 1-2 automatically in SS?

In order to get running I will calculate out what the assumed values should be. From there I will tune on the dyno. As for tools, you will need some way to monitor the ECU data via a laptop or Palm. That will be invaluable and will allow you to reset the inevitable tripped codes.

BTW, there is a turbo S2000 on the e-Manage forum. He may be able to lend some insight.

Yea, the duty cycle control is the best method IMO. With altering the MAP signal you also affect other things such as timing. But with injection control we are just doing as the ECU would do if it could be re-tuned.

You guys need to create a 'E-Manage' thread and make it a sticky... this is very useful info.

BTW, I should be receiving my e-Manage and accessories tomorrow or Monday. I am still waiting on the harness details but that should not prevent me from getting in the unit to determine the required settings for our car.

Once everything is in I'll document it all and this can be put on the e-Manage forum along with Useful Topics here.

There is quite a bit of deciphering needed for this unit as this is a new installation and the settings are unknown.

Quick update..

Got a call from Tony on Friday, and he told me that I can pick up my car on Monday. He said I should be happy with their first attempt at tune our cars. He told me that there is about a consistant 10-15 HP gain across the RPM range so far. I will try to see if I can get some graphs so I can post them here for everyone to see.

Just the standard I/H/E like you said. Picking it up after work today. I hope my good old butt dyno can feel the difference.

The chip would be the same for you. Since it has nothing to do with shift points, but more with A/F and timing. Their goal is to give us a nice and flat a/f curve, so we can get good power through the entire powerband. Instead of just peak HP.

It will also work in the CL-P/TL-P. However, I beleive there will need to be different programs for all three, the CL-S/TL-S, CL-P/TL-P and the CL-S6. Timing aspect will probably be different for the 5AT versus the 6-Speed and fuel supply will be different between the J32A1 and J32A2, etc.
