Props to you for being so excited over having what you perceive to be a "quick" CL-P. Just remember that if someone with a Type-S spent the same amount of cash on their car it would absolutely blow the doors off of your car.

I really really really have a hard time trying to justify doing engine mods to the CL-P when for a few extra grand you could have had a Type-S.
I've driven JBlueCLS6's car and even before the blower went on his car(he had every bolt on and light weight wheels), and it could probably take me (headers and thermoblock spacers) in reverse.

I remember and old TL-P dyno once where the guy had headers and intake and it was only making 187 hp. That kind of killed any hopes I had for this car.

That last part is wrong, it was just an intake and voltage kit and he was making 180whp and 176wtq.

Exactly... you CL-P guys realize that in stock form your car is making right around 160-170hp at the wheels. That's in a car that weighs 3,500lbs. You have a LOT of ground to make up and it really really isn't worth it.

Honestly... if you are trying to be "fast" the only respectable mod for this car (Type-S) is a supercharger with the high boost pulley or preferably a turbo. Bottom line. A car that runs low 14s with over $3,000 worth of mods isn't really worth it. Trust me, I've been there. It's fun for the time being but in the end... wow what a waste.

Like I've said before. I never planned on buying the Type-S from the beginning when I was looking through the lines of CLs. I was just looking for a good price that was over 3 years ago.

I hear ya Steve. With the same mods on a Type-S, absolutely I'd be crushed. But, not everybody with a Type-S wants to throw on a blower, nos, or all the mods I have on right now, or future secret mods .

EDIT: This is the second car over the 10 cars I've owned that I've modded out so for the time being it's keeping me busy while I'm going through a divorce.

Its cool that your modding your car and everyone is very interested to see what numbers you get, we just don't want you to get your hopes up about the power you will be making.

I know, after owning the car for a while I've always been interested in modding it out and squeezing the most power I can out of it. Money isn't really an issue when it comes to my car.

It will be interesting to see what she can do at the track when I'm all done though.

High 14s at 95mph tops

And take this how you will... but in my opinion it's really foolish to say "money isn't an issue when it comes to my car." Dude... your car is worth $10,000 if that. It has a transmission made of glass, and in no way shape or form was it ever designed to be taken down the track. It was designed for women to have a somewhat sporty entry-level luxury coupe based on the accord platform. It was a huge failure for Acura.

Sure the car is great and all but see it for what it really is... a good bang for the buck ride that really doesn't have that much potential in the aftermarket. The J32A2 (Type-S) motor has TONS of potential... it just never found it's way into the right car.

If money isn't an issue now... uninstall all those parts and trade it in for a 6 speed.

A type-S (auto) with those mods would dip into the mid/low 14s... a 6 speed would be high 13s.

With the mods you currently have (I/H/Unichip correct?) you will probably make 200whp which will be good for high 14s at around 95mph. Trust me... I've been to the track more than a few times in these cars

You you want to slap on a Type-S manifold and throttle body... okay. You want a supercharger and NOS. Okay that's fine too. Still... You won't reach more than high 13s around 103MPH. And that's if you can tune it with the nitrous and you don't blow up the transmission. You are going to spend an additional $3,000+ in order to run high 13s?! Waste...

Thats more than 3k... I would say closer to 4...

And a few bolt-ons on a 6 speed (Headers alone probably) would dip you into high 13s.

Notice a Supercharged CLS Auto gets around mid-260s

http://www.comptechusa.com/store/med...ls6auto_sc.pdf

A Supercharged P would probably be 230s at best... Thats only a bit more than a stock 6 speed puts down... a few bolt-ons and it'll put down 250+

Green- Keep up the great attitude and continue to shrug the negativity off. We all have our vices and ours is experimenting with this car. The supercharger will do wonders on your car and with the higher boost pulley or stock pulley will surpass any na cls. As for the guys kicking at you with the monatary expense, you have made your point, let it rest as what's the point of kicking a dead horse?

Keep up ur MOD plans and prove everybody what a CL-P can do in ur hands. I'll b tuning mine cl-p this fall with some tricks of my sleeves that I have and yeeah the same over here people telling me to get a type s but i don't care what they say. People have different modding ideas to get their car where they want it and some don't have luck so do what u gotta do.

GreenMachine, keep modding the car man. Negatively is negatively and just brush it off. Anythings possible depending on how much you got to spend. Good luck.

^^^^^^That's the attitude I like. That's why I come on here asking for advice. I see a lot of Type-S' modified, but what if a base model can do the same?

As long as I love my Acura, it will keep me coming back here. I don't have any plans on getting rid of it for a long time.

ALRIIIIIIIIIIIIIIGGGGHHHT....the dyno tune was done, my CL-P is pushing a tad over 205...close to 206 whp. So with the Type-S IM, S/C'er and Nos...I will be pushing over 300 hp to the wheels.

I'll post up the dyno in a few minutes

The chip gave me 10 extra HP when it was tuned!!!

Once I hit 4000 RPMS thats where the extra HP kicks in.

I have all the paperwork...I just need to scan it and post up...that'll be a few days.

Looks like Mr. Steve was almost right on. That'll get you high 14's as your putting down the same power as an Auto Type-S.

I honestly don't want to take it out to the track until I'm done working on it.

With the corrections on the dynojet, the tuner told me that my car is putting out a little bit more than 260 to the crank.

BTW my exhaust is super loud! Standing behind the dynojet the exhaust was literaly making sound waves to where my body was rumbling. And that was 10 ft away!

Just goes to show with the right mods the "Type-P" can run with the Type-S any day.

The guy who tuned my car has been tuning american/import cars since '89 and Honda/Acura cars suck when it comes to torque. He said a blower or a turbo will make up for the torque not there, but he said you really need to build the engine from the ground up.

There was an Acura Integra LS...late '90s model that had a fully built engine, turboed and is running 28 psi throwing 500 hp to the wheels...and the PSI can be maxed out to 60.

He said the car's engine can hold almost 1000 hp and the engine won't blow!

i dont know, i will agree the 3.2 doesn't show massive peak torque numbers, i dont agree that torque sucks on these motors. the torque curve on the 3.2 type s gets up there early in the powerband is flat across it. you just need to know how to mod the car to get the torque up there.

with that said, my car has loads of torque ;]

I'm glad to see the Unichip worked out well. I am considering becoming a dealer for them and using their module since they are tuned specifically for each car and are set up according to what mods you have.

Stock horsepower...for the premium model is between 170-180

I've never seen UniChip make a chip for our 6-speeds...probably Greddy E-manage, or AEM stand alone.

Ex...do it...there might be a lot of members that would go through if you did.

You're right about that...it's the same for the premium model too. I'll have to look at my paperwork to confirm where the torque flattens out.
