Ultimate Acura wishlist

Ok, so we all know that this forum doesn't really represent the demographic of the CL (something like 42 year old, married men making $54K). So what I want to know is, what type of car would you like to see Acura produce? Or is their current lineup perfect for you?

Do you want to see a roadster? Something to actually compete with the 7 series? A compact SUV? What do you want? ...sky's the limit.

Personally, I would like to see a true roadster. Something that can compete with the Boxster S in performance (but like most Acuras be very affordable)

I really like my CLS

The thought of a RWD coupe is nice, but most of the time, I can't tell that I'm driving a FWD car. Only when pushed to the limit does the fact that the CLS is a FWD car become apparent (and it's a good FWD car at that w/ LSD).

When I was test driving a CLS auto, the salesman and me were following a S2000 for a bit. He said that an Acura version of the S2000 might be coming out. That would make a great weekend car.

Roadster would get my vote. But my love is still with the Z3/Z4 for my price range.

Gotta have that inline 6 torque

1.The S2K should have been an Acura!
2. KILL the RSX...it ruins acura's luxury image (once one is established, then bring back the RSX...BMW, MB)
3. CL should be more sporty
4. TL is fine
5. MDX is fine
6. Introduce RWD mid size car (like TL) to compete w/ GS300, E320, 530i
7. RL should compete with the LS430, Q45 (hybrid!!!!)
8. NSX...make it worth the money

Thank you and I couldn't agree more. Most here, even the ones who state that they would rather have RWD, will never push the car to the point to where RWD has an advantage.

My other car is one of the trademark RWD passenger sport vehicles in terms of handling and during most of my commutes, which I always drive hard, I rarely see the advantages. Now there have been times in some very aggressive mountain driving which the other car has a clear advantage but this is very rare.

However, this other car does exhibit a better feel for the road and greater connectivity to the actions but this is indicative of this vehicle, not all RWD cars. But street limits are not too far separated; they just have a different feel and take a different course through a turn. In fact, the CL-S6 can pull out of a turn better than the other car.

I thought about that...an Acura version of the S2000. It would be a great car...the RWD so many of you have been begging for, with the 3.2...but then I realized, it wouldn't handle nearly as well as the S2000 because of the weight (especially nose heavy) so I'd actually be more interested in a mid-engine. But hey! I would love an Acura S2000 too!

I like this topic, so here is the cars I think Acura should produce:

1. A V8 sedan with a 6-speed automatic transmission that competes directly with Lexus LS430 and Mercedes-Benz E500.

2. A RWD super car that has at least 380hp and competes against Ferrari 360 Modena.

3. A compact sport sedan that cost less than $30,000 and competes against BMW 3-series, and I think this one is coming true because TSX would be here next April or something.

4. A ultra-high performance version of the TL sedan with a designation of something like "Type R" and has 350+hp so it still can follow BMW M5. Also, this car will only cost low to mid 40k.

Also, Acura should offer under-body spoilers for all Acura models.

What he said. I would love to see a RWD car the same size as the 1st Gen CL.

My vote would definitely go for a *real* Type S version of a CL.

Acura needs to get rid of the whole mindset where the jacked-up 4x4 look, horrible gripping tires, and only having an automatic tranny are *OK* for their 2-door luxury sport coupe. They need a 330Ci / G35C / etc. competitor in both looks and performance. So far, it seems that this generation of CL-S is targetted more as a Maxima / I35 competitor.

I'd also really like to see them get a mid-$30k roadster that hauls ass past others in that sub-$40k price range.

Yep, that's my thoughts...

Heck, I think an Acura roadster in the mid-$30k range would hall ass past others in the sub-$50k range.

My $.02

The RL needs to be made RWD with a V8 or there needs to be a new model above the RL that has those characteristics. No more excuses. No one is going to take Acura seriously with a FWD V6 car in the GS430/540i price range.

Acura wishlist-

1. Owners who would understand Honda's way of thinking.
2. Owners who stop asking for features OTHER CAR MAKERS HAVE.
3. Owners who need to stop b!tching.

My wish is for myself to never be stupid enough again to buy another acura.

This is truly my LAST honda.

I'm moving to German automobiles next.

They are built more solid. Handle better, and I won't have to go TO HELL AND BACK to get the dealerships to do simple shit for me.

FUCK ACURA!

I'll keep this car until next summer, simply because I'm buying a house in July. After that, then I will shop around for something nice.

wow, he is kinda right...

Honda does have its niche and while most of us don't necessarily agree with it, the majority of owners must, since Honda does so well for itself.

Anyway back to the topic:

A turboed CLS 6MT with AWD (does anyone currently offer a 6 cyclinder turboed coupe these days under 50g with AWD?) and a V8 AWD TLS. I like AWD because it can be fun in both the Summer and winter in the Northeast!

I would just like to see more AWD/RWD instead of FWD. That is all.

And 1SICKLEX, I'm sure Ferrari owners bitch too.

My little wishlist:

A 300hp CLS Hardtop convertible ala SC430 (one area Honda/Acura has completely missed the boat on IMO)

Next generation styling on the CL/TL with a $5k bump in price so the older ones actual hold their value

No Acuras for less than $25k

Dealerships that believe they sell UPSCALE, LUXURY cars at great prices not expensive Hondas!!!

A 350hp twin turbo Flagship that revives the Legend name (the "L" Type R?)

A 400hp NSX for around $85k

A real advertising campaign that actually builds the BRAND NAME

Comptech positioned like AMG - Dealer Direct

Read the subject of this thread, you dumb ass! It's a wishlist, so b!tching is gonna be inherent in the discussion! Start another thread titled "What you like most about Acura" if you want.

I'd like the following:
1. 300+ hp
2. AWD
3. Edgier & more aggressive yet tasteful styling. The CL's styling is too bland.
4. A transmission and Engine that will be strong enough to handle boosting the car to 400+hp (ceramic pistons etc)
5. Tripod guages like the new Z
6. Carbon fibre trim ala M3.
7. 4 seats, but lose the electric sliding seats...too grampaish.
8. stock SS door sills
9. Aluminum body
10.. Last but not least a door ding sensor that will engulf the offender in flames, flamethrower style.
:flamer:

3. YES! Edgier styling!
10. Nah, I figure electrifying the offender would be more fun.

I'd like the following:
THat is the crap I am talking about. All cars have things we wish we could improve, but asking for AWD etc is nuts.

Honda does exceptionally well considering it really only sells the Civic, Accord and Accord based Cars.
Civic
Accord
3 SUVs now

Rsx
Tl
CL
Rl
Mdx
Nsx

This is a very small product line. They do well considering. Hell Honda does not sell a pick-up truck for instance.

ALL THE SHIT YOU GUYS ARE LOOKING FOR ARE ALREADY AVAILABLE FROM OTHER CAR MANUFACTURERS. I once had a dream about the ultimate ACURA...but it turned out HONDA fucking turned my dream into a nightmare when they released a 240hp accord coupe with mp3, 7inch navi/voice/dual climate control for less than my brand new just traded in 6-speed CLS!

FUCK ACURA...I'm probably going to buy european the next time I get a car...WHAT YOU PAY FOR IS WHAT YOU GET.

What can you get for $30K that is better than Acura CLS? But is it really better???

Wow, this tread has gone down hill faster than a CLS with headers! Geez.

Sicklex: We're not saying we expect Acura to cater to our every whim...we're just sharing our dreams cars from our favorite manufacturer. When I was a kid, I would page through the Sears Christmas catalogue and make a wishlist of all the toys I wanted. I KNEW I wasn't going to get many (if any) of them...but it was still fun to think about...to think about the "What if"s. That's all we're doing here. "What if Acura made a Roadster?" "What if the CL had AWD"

Looking at your tagline, I can see that your wishlist includes a Lamborgini. Are we calling that crap? No, I would love to see you own one. But don't call our wishes crap...instead, join in the fun.

DDT-TypeS: My goodness, you must have really gotten burned by Acura. I'm sorry to hear that, and whatever they did to you, I hope it doesn't happen to anyone else. However, this is an Acura forum, most of the rest of us LIKE Acura. If you want to complain about them, I bet there's an anti-Acura forum out there you can join. Please don't take our forum down with you.

Thank you.

True, and some of us would like more manual Lexus cars but we don't have ever other thread about it. So that is why you buy a BMW in that case as your other car.

Look how long it took Honda to build a V-6 and sell it here. Look at how evolutionary every design on every car they build is. Did you know it is DICTATED for Acuras and Hondas to look alike. Their culture is very old-fashioned and traditional (Japanese). It took 6 MONTHS OF FIGHTING to put dual exhausts on the TL sedan.

We will get all that:

1. Will get V8-like power. A V6+electric engine hybrid

2. Will get that with the above setup.

3. TSX is coming (the latest about that by the way is that it will probably use the 200HP engine from the RSX - I dont like that - they use a 2.3 liter 190HP engine in Euope)

4. I am sure the TL will get hybridized next to achieve the above. And actually, I bet you that the hybrid TL and RL will make about 350HP where the hybrid NSX will make 400HP. Watch.

I've been agonizing over replacing my '01 CLS (27k miles) which I can buy for $21k off lease. But what else is there? You can do whatever you want to an Accord, it's still an Accord. You want the same features on BMW,Audi,Lexus,Infiniti,MB? you pay $10k to $20k more OTD.

Something used? A '95 SC400 with 80k+ miles on it and get pwr strng and alternator probs and no back seat and no trunk? A '97 328is with 65k+ on it?

Don't even think American

I understand the point of the thread - a wishlist. But providing a true LUXURY COUPE with sporting aspirations and more usuable standard features than anything else was a wish come true for me. Besides, check the other forums for what the rich and famous pay to fix their dream machines.... IMHO.

Furthermore - we have models like these :P

A gasoline/electric hybrid engine. Where the electric motor is charged off of the gas power at higher speeds and will add another 100 hp or so and much better gas mileage. The Acura DNX concept car had 400hp and got 50mpg They would basically take a V6 and add an electric motor on top of it and have it work so it makes power out of existing engine power.

So why does the Civic Hybrid only have 85hp? and still only gets 50mpg. I understand they use a 1.3 instead of 1.6 liter engine but why they huge hp drop?

my wishlist is simpe, my car RWD not AWD. I had an awd drive car and wont get another one, they're no fun. Drifting is a lot harder, the only way to break the tires loose is snow and you can only make smoke using the e-brake. RWD, cl-s would be a monster. Thats it just my car rwd, no changes.
